39,000 years ago, a fighter called the Griffin protected the T'ndari colonization fleets from pirates and raiders. It was very successful and has recently been restudied for military use today. The engineers remaking the Griffin would have no resource if it weren't for the charity of a family of ancient artifact collectors.
Today the Griffin has a better range, better speed, and better firepower, allowing it to be used as a good interceptor.
The Griffin, as it was thousands of years ago, is very dangerous to fly, as there is little barrier besides the lightly armored pressure suit between the pilot and the engines. If something happens to the engines, the pilot is in a very bad situation.
This is the Death view. Shows the gun barrels, rocket pods and the thing where the guy comes out.(and a wa-a-a).
Yes, I know that two of the peices on the nose are different colors. Its just part of my style, if i don't do that, it doesn't look right to me. So don't ridicule me for not having this so called "color coordination". because i do, I just implement it differently than other people.
In making the Battlestar Galactica viper my own, I added a T'ndari favorite, rockets and missiles. These would be used for taking down a corvette or something like that. Oh, and it was really fun to build this part.
MY favorite part, the engines. This is supposed to be an upgrade to my bar engine, making it faster and more efficient. The top one does not have the cylinder peice because I could not find another one of those that was the right color or wasn't being used in onther model.
Yes, I know his helmet is red, but its all good. The Griffin pilots wear helmets that are the color of their squadron. This griffin is in red squadron.
The griffin could be flown with no canopy, because the cockpit isn't pressurized, but there is a canopy to provide a bullet resistant shield for the pilot. The griffin does not have any form of energy shielding because it is too small.
some griffins can carry a small torpedo for bombing runs.
Profile, I think I did well on my squadron stripe application.
Top. Again the viper shape.
Cannons firing away!
Don't say anything about how bad that photoshop job is. its my first time doing that tyope of thing.
Other than the color, this is a pretty impressive fighter. I like the back end, you really did well on that part. The front end could use a little work, but it looks pretty good. Thanks for your reviews.
So THIS is what you have been working on. Who cares if the nose piece doesnt match, its still a great concept model. I like it! The tail and the engines particularly spark my interest- great weapons too. I only wish you didnt mix old grey and new grey, not that Ive ever done that *shifty eyes*. Bravo, dude! Oh, and I would suggest a better transistion of the wing stublets... (is that even a word?)
I supremely enjoyed building this. I can't tel you how long i spent searching through my collection of legos to find that third engine cylinder to no avail. At first I was only going ot go with the basic design, and call it the x-06 griffin. but i figured there were too many plain viper style fighters out there, so i added my own spice to it.
