Here is my recreation of an F-16. Let me know what you think.
About this creation
The Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon is an American multirole jet fighter aircraft originally developed by General Dynamics for the United States Air Force. Designed as a lightweight fighter, it evolved into a successful multirole aircraft. The Falcon's versatility is a paramount reason it was a success on the export market, serving 24 countries. The F-16 is the largest Western fighter program with over 4,000 aircraft built since production started in 1976. Though no longer produced for the US Air Force, it is still produced for export. In 1993, General Dynamics sold its aircraft manufacturing business to the Lockheed Corporation, which in turn became part of Lockheed Martin after a 1995 merger with Martin Marietta.
The Fighting Falcon is a dogfighter with numerous innovations including a frameless, bubble canopy for better visibility, side-mounted control stick to ease control while under high g-forces, and reclined seat to reduce the effect of g-forces on the pilot. It was also the first fighter aircraft deliberately built to sustain 9-g turns. It has a thrust-to-weight ratio greater than one, providing enough power to climb and accelerate vertically - if necessary. Although the F-16's official name is "Fighting Falcon", it is known to some of its pilots as the "Viper", after the Battlestar Galactica starfighter.
There are some things that could use improvement - mainly the radome is too wide in proportion to the body - but overall you did a nice job of capturing the F-16 on a scale lots smaller then most of us build.
Nice work! I think Lego should make a more gradually sloping large cone so there could be a more gradual transition between the nose cone and the fuselage. The shape is very good for the scale and, personally, I've always been a fan of custom colors planes (even though the USAF jets look pretty cool). Any planes for a next-gen jet or maybe a custom design? Peace - Patrick
Hi Bryan, this is pretty good but like you said the proportions are a little off and the color scheme is obviously not right...but aside from the negatives this is actually not that bad...I personally think that if it was all the same color and the wings were more swept back it would look alot better anyway great moc-------David
I agree, it´s nicely done, the color schemes can always be improved as soon as you´ll own the necessary bricks & some of the key features are very well recognizable. Even though it´s not exactly the overall shape, I really like how this one looks anyways - great job! Keep on building planes - and check out mine if you´re interested... Viele Grüße aus Deutschland, Steffen
I'm giving you a 5/5 Bryan because you have paid attention to the shape and contours of the F-16 and it was easily recognizable as one. Yes it would look better all in bley but I know not all of us enjoy owning millions of bricks-trust me. Well done!
