About this creation
Our collection is not very large by serious AFOL standards, but we have a decent variety of pieces and I think it's well organized. As toys ostensibly for our three year old boy, I suppose it's a pretty large...

Most of our pieces are stored in small and medium stackable bins that are easily removed from the shelf. The toolbox in the lower-left contains Technic and Mindstorms (RCX not NXT) parts.

The large bins contain regular bricks (2+ studs by 3+ studs), vehicle parts (including tons of tires) and large decorative parts.

We organize mostly by shape rather than color. Most containers have nice P-Touch labels, but some are blank because I am currently in the process of relabeling (again).

We re-organize our collection as both the collection and the number of bins grow.

We use two large carrying cases, one for plates and the other specialty parts.

In these cases we try to keep a large majority of the smaller pieces you might need for a project.

My son's Imaginarium train table is used for LEGOŽ and Playmobil (and sometimes even the wooden trains it was intended for).

Trees and animals are stored in one drawer. The other drawer (not shown) contains old issues of LEGOŽ Magazine and catalogs. Instructions are stored safely out of reach of 3-year-old hands in a sealed container.

Some base plates.

This is a LEGOŽ brand organizer. It's good for minifigures and accessories. This is basically the area for pieces that my son gets complete access to. His favorite pass-time is rearranging the minifigs and making sure each and every one of them is holding an accessory in each hand.

Lots of Pick-A-Brick containers here (too many). We're very lucky to have a retail store in nearby Bellevue, WA. All of the above bins and cases come from The Container Store, heaven for obsessive-compulsive organizers. It's in the same mall as the LEGOŽ store. :)

A few MOCs on the shelf.

Yeah, your collection is bigger than mine, I think. WOW, Tell your son that my favorite pastime is the same, rearranging my minifigs and giving each one an accessory in each hand, GREAT minds do think alike!

Looks great! Lots of good storage solutions there and I love the use of the P-Touch labels. We're in the process of labeling our drawers. Sorting and storage seems like a never-ending process. :-)

"I see your schwartz is as big as mine is." (once again refering to the collection)~ Mark. Sorry, couldn't resist. Anyway, great arrangement for storage. I always like seeing how others maintain their addiction, and this is beautifully OCD - Adrian Monk would be proud. I'm inspired to go sort for a bit!

It's bigger than mine too. You know-the collection ~ Shan. Also, it drives me crazy that you guys have these PaB stores over there. Whole shops devoted to Lego? You live in heaven.
