This is My first dropship, heavily influenced by the Pelican Dropship from the Halo series. Like the Pelican this Dropship is meant to transport Troops from larger capital ships down to the surface. The Hawk is also built to provide close air support to the troops it sets down by way of explosive or armor piercing cannon fire and supply drops.
This build is one of the most greebled Iíve built as well as being practically studless, what studs are there are spread out and donít really detract from the overall look. Details include: Cannons, vents, flat panels to cover most of the studs, retractable landing gear, wings that can raise and lower, engines on rotating mounts, opening dive flaps, a cargo bay with working bay door and the room to seat 10 minifigs and some equipment, rear cargo booms to carry drop pods and small vehicles (I took the drop pod idea right from Halo because itís a cool idea), and landing lights.
This build has a fairly sleek look from the side.
The wings tilt up for landing and the engines go vertical.
This is one of the few builds I've made with enough room for the minifigs to stand up straight (five blocks high).
These are the drop pods (I know theyíre box shaped, not pod shaped). These two carry 2 assault rifles and ammo and the one that is shown carries two rocket launchers.
These are just some shots showing the details of the wings and the cargo booms.
This is just a mini version I built after a I finished the main one. The engines can't rotate but the wings tilt and there is a hatch in the back (not shown) that can open and close.
