This 1:20 scale Smart ForTwo is built in LEGOLAND's "miniland" scale, an update to an older design. Using only basic LEGO bricks (all of which stay "on the grid") this model illustrates how great curves and shapes can be made with just basic little rectangles.
Each of these sculptures is fully glued and has been signed by the artist. Only five have been produced, and this limited edition is now being offered for sale. One was on display at a New York City art and technology show in June 2009, and another at Changi International Airport, Singapore, Summery 2009.Contact Sean to purchase, $475.
Ben - Believe it or not, there's actually a good bit of SNOT in the model... The fenders, the the entire front & back up to the license plates, and the gray "swish"s lower front and upper back. The trick with good SNOT (heh, good snot) :) is to get the bricks and plates to line up so that there's no seams. It can be tricky, but it just requires a little bit of basic "LEGO math" (5 plates sideways = 2 bricks) and a well-placed technic brick-with-pin or two. :)
