Kir Kanos, former Imperial Royal Guard, main character of the Crimson Empire comic books.
About this creation
Kir Kanos is the main character of the Crimson Empire Star Wars comic books. He is fanatically loyal to the Empire and the principles of the New Order brought about by Emperor Palpatine after the fall of the Old Republic. He is so loyal to these ideals that he remained loyal to them even after the Emperor's death. He was with the royal guards who defended the Emperor's clone, and he was wounded but not killed when the Jedi attacked. He then hunted down and killed the traitorous royal guard Carnor Jax, who had proclaimed himself Emperor. Kir Kanos is sickened by the whining, feuding warlords who now run the remnants of the Empire. Kir Kanos of the Crimson Empire! THIS is what Imperial Royal Guards REALLY look like under all those robes. And forget those "force pikes", this Echani-style double-vibroblade is the weapon they should have used!
You're probably wondering why I gave Kanos a trans-orange head under his helmet instead of a solid black one like on the standard LEGO Royal Guards. Well, that's because the real Royal Guard helmets in the movies had sort of trans-red visors, not solid black ones. This is also seen in several scenes in the Crimson Empire comics.
After reading the Crimson Empire comic books, one gets the idea that Emperor Palpatine probably wouldn't have been killed at the hands of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader if he hadn't sent these guys out of the room.
Kir Kanos unhelmeted. Here you can see the face decal I made for him, with his characteristic scar running across his face. Sorry about the totally bizarre and extremely annoying reflections on his face and chest here. It's not a good picture...
Kir Kanos is one of my favorite Star Wars characters, even if he isn't in the movies. He has red armor, he kicks major butt, and he has a cool attitude. Reminds me of Saber-Scorpion... Here he is taking out a stormtrooper.
Here is Kir Kanos disguised as Kenix Kil, a bounty hunter. He takes on this alternate identity to escape those who are hunting him. Namely, just about everybody in the galaxy. I'm not sure if he actually wears the same armor under his poncho, but hey, if I had changed the armor, I would have been making a whole new minifig...
But these covers still match pretty well, wouldn't you say? I tried to position the minifigs in the same poses as the ones on the actual comic cover. It's hard to do with minifigs and their limited joints though. This cover is pretty interesting, especially if you look at the guy falling down. He appears to be a stormtrooper with no black body-glove suit on under his armor! Strange, yet interesting...
Another cover re-creation! Pretty cool, huh? This is one of my favorites, but I couldn't quite position his vibroblade correctly. Again, it's hard to do poses with minifigs. I couldn't get the weapon past his helmet, and certainly not above his head. Still, it's as close as I could get with LEGO, and I think it looks pretty good.
justin if this is wuzzupbob I really love your legos but your muunilinst 10 mini figures can you make the stickers and helmet with rangefinder please I really want to make my own thank you wuzzupbob :)
Ooh La La! Methinks melikes what mesees. Sorry, Ja Ja impersonation.
Yeah, classic MOC. Scorp, your like, No. 1 on my idols list. This MOC is amazing, and Kir Kanos is Suh-weeet!

Good for noticing the transparent visor, Scorp. One detail you did miss was the fact that Kanos's cape is black on the inside. Yes, Kanos does wear different armor as Kenix Kil, as can be seen in the comic book Kenix Kil. I do not always agree with Kir Kanos's behavior, but he still is an interesting Star Wars character. All around a good reproduction. Post Script: Could you please make Carnor Jax, Mirith Sinn or one of the other Crimson Empire characters.
Awesome cover vignettes! Just awesome. The minifig really captures the armor from the comic, and your design for the vibrolance is inspiring. The Kenix Kil pic really has incredible placement; you can feel the motion, just like the comic slide! The stormtrooper attack slide is great too. I might've put the lance in front of the fig to get it level, but that upstages the armor--no win situation with an overhead charge like that, especially with the humongous guard helmet. Great work altogether!
