Mission: Impossible
"Good morning, Mr. Phelps..."
About this creation
“As usual, should you or any member of your IMF team be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow all knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.”

Ask me what my dream job is, and I will not hesitate with an answer: IMF agent. That’s “Impossible Mission Force”.

“Mission: Impossible” was a television show that ran from 1966 to 1973, starring Peter “You ever seen a grown man naked?” Graves, Barbara Bain, Greg Morris, Peter Lupus, and the incomparable Martin Landau, who was later replaced by the equally incomparable Leonard Nimoy.

It spawned three Tom Cruise movies. The first was very well filmed. The second had the words “Mission: Impossible” in the title and that was about the only similarity to the show. The third had Billy Crudup, and Billy Crudup is good in anything. You guys seen the Watchmen trailer? God, I can’t wait for that movie. Anyway:

There is nothing cooler than an IMF agent. These cats were constantly climbing out of pianos, riding on top of elevators, covertly passing microfilms, pulling back the walls of a room to reveal it as a set, and - the best moment in any episode - ripping disguises off their faces in one fluid motion. Landau was particularly good at that.

The show was filled to the brim with complex schemes, down-to-the-second timing, double- and triple-crosses, sleight of hand, and severe mind games. It’s one of the best shows of all time.

I would KILL to have my voicemail say, “This tape will self-destruct in five seconds” after every message. I’d never get tired of it. Never.

If I’ve sparked anyone’s interest in the show, go out and rent season three, disk four, and watch the episode titled “The Mind of Stefan Miklos” for an example of the show at its very finest.

And go here for a montage of about seven opening sequences, featuring the Best Theme Song Ever (by Lalo Schiffrin, masterchief 1)

That show is definitely a favorite of mine. Too cool for words, as is this post and your set-ups therein.

The theme tune... as good as Monty Norman's (if not better) James Bond theme. By the way who wrote the "Mission Impossible" tune? Apart from that the MOC in itself is exallant , and the lift is super!

Ah, of course: Mr. Briggs! Forgot about him. Phelps was better, though.

actually there was a guy that played a phelps type character in like the very beginning of the show, and the minifig with brown hair and lukes face could be him. the minifig on top of the elevater could be rollin.

Miles - I thought about making the actual cast of the series, but didn't really have enough good torsos or faces or hairpieces. So the minifigs in these pictures aren't Phelps, Rollin, Barney, etc, but just nameless characters executing "Mission: Impossible"-type jobs.

i love the show, and your moc, but for phelps's hair you should use the gray city hair. and this show isn't one of the best shows of all time: it is the bes show of all time!!!!

All these look great! (though I haven't seen the show) I'm sure they're all very well represented.

Looks like barely anyone's seen this yet. I'm guessing the dimly-lit atmospheric main pic got lost in a flood of blurry pics of minifigs, blocky rainbow ships, and alliance requests. Too bad. The old Mission Impossible series (not the movies, I'll never see those) is in my Netflix queue somewhere, but I'm engrossed in the Sopranos right now, so MI will have to wait.
