I modified my Clone TurboTank,
(particulary because I wanted to use the flat dark green pieces for something else :p )
The cockpit used to hold only one driver, I took some stuff out and created a controlling platform able to hold two drivers.
If you own the turbo tank yourself you know that the driver's seat is easy to remove (you can disconnect it by the technic pin),
My controlling platform can be connected in the tank the same way so if I wanted I could easely return the normal platform.
The cockpit has more useable space now but by replacing the seat (and adding one) I made the seat incapable of rising itself (turbotank seat). But the removal of the center chair also allowed me to make a passage from the cockpit to the midsection.
I used pilot clones as drivers.
I named it "Rhino class", do you see its horn ? anyway, I'm going to remove the piece, it doesn't look that good actually.
I did something with the back of the tank too, there are now 4 seats instead of 2 and I changed some small details as well, like weapon holders on the 'ceiling'.
so, without the "horn", I took some of the dark green and dark red bricks to use on other creations, I tried to replace them by bley (new dark gray) vent pieces
this is the old cockpit, I had already modified it, can you see the lever ? by pushing my lever you can more easier elevate the driver.
another useful modification are the ladders to the roof of the tank, I showed them before (SW modifications but the tank didn't have this cockpit then (this is an older picture, I took it before I made the new cockpit).
they fit perfectly
I made some seats attached with a magnet, not really an efficient way of creating space but I had these magnets left and I wanted to do something with them. Btw, those who own the tank know that this section is smaller than it looks, you'll experience the standing place unable to widen without getting in conflict with the opening sides.
the rest isn't worth talking about, you can see the other modifications on the pictures
So, do you like it ? are you going to modify your turbotank too ? yes ? no ? why ?
please let me know what you think...
about my turbotank of course ! There are some things I don't want to know...
you did a great job MODing your turbo tank. i'd do that if i had one. LEGO never makes stuff with near enough troop space as it should have, but you've done great bringing it closer to what it should be.
woah! this is awesome, with all the improvments you've made. I mean like the hallway from the cockpit to the passenger section and the ladders leading up to the roof, lego should really do more detail's like this. Of course if they did that they would take the fun out of customizing.
I did very similar with mine when I got it, I also made the gun command station as seen in the Star Wars cross sections book. The exterior is ok, but the interior in the original model is weak. Good modification.
Very, very good. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you mixed up the front and the back. From the set pics, the guy sitting in the tower is always facing in the direction that you put 4 guys in, and the droids are also posistioned in that direction. I assumed that they were rolling forward towards the droids, attacking them. That's my opinion, but feel free to prove me wrong. Either way, both cockpits are fantastic, I love how you put extra seats in both and also spieced them up with good-lookin' control panels. The passage ways are also a nice touch.
