The worst mistake Kuat Systems Engineering has ever made!
About this creation
Kuat Systems Engineering, impressed with the success of the original Delta-7 Aethersprite Jedi Starfighter, immediately set to work making a new model. Brilliantly designed, it suddenly became yesterday's news. Why? It suddenly hit them: the design couldn't fit a comfortable cockpit! Try as they might, the astromech droid's head kept getting in the way, and finally the scientists got fed up and scrapped it.
Didn't even leave the production line....
As the main pic is the front, here's one of the back. The design is so convoluted, I dunno if I can reproduce it! (already scrapped in the real world)
There's the underside, and yes, in order to strengthen the wings, I have TWO hinges on each wing, one connected to a 4 stud-long tile, and the other to a 3 stud-long. Did I mention it's convoluted??
Here's one of the wings alone. I went to town with glow-in-the-dark pieces, simply because it's close to yellow in color.
Here you can see (a) the wing's underside, and (b) a good look at the concept for what kept R4 from falling out and what enclosed it.
And of course, the COMPLETELY stripped hull, without wings OR an astromech droid. Happy?!... :)
MOC of the day? What?! Oh well, I humbly accept this honor and stuff. Really, the only reason it's "popular" is that back in the day (you saw when this was posted, right?) people who weren't logged in could rate creations to their heart's content. Such is the case with this creation; it had a horrible rating (I think 2 out of 5) when someone came along and rated my creation approximately 90 times. Obsessed much? In any case, there's my explanation.
As a side note, it's funny that my creation was a bust because of the astromech being in the way. I think this was made before... well...
"BREEEEEP" said the astromech droid... "He said get me out of here..." said the protocal droid... It looks pretty goo for a pilotless ship! Maybe they could teach astromechs how too use them, and then send astromechs into battle!
I like it! Just keep trying! When I build a Lego model I think about what I would like it to have. Then I build the base, then whatever I want it to have. My point is when it comes to Legos never give up.
Ha ha! I like the backstory. I wonder how Kuat never thought of the cockpit... lol! Thanks for checkin out SIre Ackbar. A mon calamari cruiser would be awesome! But it's so curvy, I wonder how they'd make it.
