D7. On of the most Original MOCs I've ever created.
About this creation
This is my age - old sigfig, D7. I made him one night in 2004 and he's never been scrapped.
I know there are better and more complicated MOCs. There are MOCs whose sheer mechanical complexity and artwork blow you off your seat and leave you drooling on your keyboard.
D7 isn't one one of those.
But I've never made a minifig I liked more. He fits in almost all of my mocs. You can acessorise him with extra antennae, hover attachments and the like. It's easy to mass produce him in lots of different colours. Thanks to the new lego battle droid arms he can hold a variety of implements - from hovercar steering wheels to toothbrushes.
D7 is the most original character ever made by me. He's Iconic. He's Cartoonish. He looks a bit like Wall-E (Even though he was made years before the mere scrapings of the movie began to form in the brains of the writers). D7 has been my Lego Identity for ages. Only recently have I come to be known as Gringat.
Here is the back. You can plug his head into sockets on ships or put a minifig hand on it to look like an antenna.
He also curls up. He fits inside lego boulders.
To make him you need:
2 droid arms
1 set of droid legs
2 1x1 round clear light blue studs
the plug part of a plug and socket hinge mechanism
a 2x1 plate with a bar attached to the side
I got all the bits I needed for him from the twin pod cloud car set and a single tan battle droid.
PLEASE DO NOT SPAM THIS PAGE. D7 MEANS A LOT TO ME.
I swear, years before I even knew about MOCpages, I made a fig that resembled D-7 exactly, minus the socket on the back of the head. Instead, he was light and dark gray, and had dark blue eyes. Now that I have seen this, I know that there are more of us D-7 makers out there. D-7's for the win. I am now inspired to go rebuild him. Right now. He will be known as D-5. If this offends you, I will change his name immediately. We should totally make a group for this. XD
You know, he IS really simple, but simple can be good too. What got me was the socket plugger thing' on his back(That is a great idea!). With a NEW droid arm he could hold items upright. Great little creation! Well done!
