MocOlympics round 1 Makuta Bane vs Rubix Cube
Makuta Bane against Rubix Cube in the "Guess that Movie" category.
About this creation
So, this is my entry. Whew! This one was annoying! I was planning to do the Burn the Witch scene from Holy Grail, for all those who grew up in that generation. But I figured it would be a pain to build the scales she was weighed in. The Sunday we were allowed to start, we channel surfed to I, Robot. I thought "That ending scene is cool, with the bridge and Sunny standing on the dune. So I started, and made an awesome Sunny. I then made the BRIDGE part, and it looked great... and then the towers... I was running out of good blocks to make it out of, and that was for the first one. Then I realized I would not have enough tan to make the ground. So, I decided to scrap it.

Luckily, I got my first Castle set that week, the Dwarf's Mine Defender (so I am not flowing with excess cash! I had wanted one for a long time, but have spent in on important things, like archery). I was itching to do a castle vig or something, so I chose the movie "T#3 &9%* 8@ 7%3 @1*6s" (if you watch the link further down, you will know). Because I was still minifig limited, I chose this scene. It was interesting, required a bit of a build, and was in my minifig limit.

Hopefully you recognize it. If not I understand. For those of you who do not, here is a link. For Kelso, Brian, and the LIU, I want you to look at the detail. See how close I got to the movie.

As just about the only reference I could find, here is a link to the scene . Go to about 4:02 into the movie.

Zoomed out a bit, so it is not actually the scene's point of view (for that, look at the main pic). Notice the pillar on the left. You can see it for a few seconds in the clip.

From the side a bit. Notice the little blood splatters.

Other side. Notice the carnage lying on the ground. If you look closer, there is a disembodied head in the back (how gruesome is THAT!).

The back. He is suppose to be hunched, not picking something up. If you look closely at the clips, he is there. Just look.

Ariel shot. This gives you a good view at what is going on. Look at the little blood stain by his head. You may say "But he got stabbed in the gut, not the head". Well, look CLOSER, my friends. He had previously suffered a head wound. If you have not figured out by now, I am big into details.

From the orc's (I know, it is really a troll minifig, but it was as close as I was going to get).

The boss orc. Does he have a name? Anyways, I know he has Anakin's face. He is suppose to be flesh colored, and that was the only face I have in that color. Besides, I think the scars and communicator device works. The guy in the movie is not exactly a pretty site, either.

All the (alive) minifigs I want to point out the wall. I have very few (2-3) light grey 1x2s. I DO have enough of 1x2s to make walls like that, and I think that gives it a broken and crumbling city feel. Oh, and the little rods, well, I think it gives it a cool texture. Sorry if you do not like it, but I do.

So thanks for looking. I hope you enjoyed. I want to give a bit thanks to Chris Phipson. Without him, none of this would have happened. So, remember, it's all in the details (that should be my slogan...), and VOTE MAKUTA BANE!

I think I forgot to tell you sorry few who have not seen the best flick in the world what it is- it's Lord of the Rings 3.

The "boss orc" is Gothmog. In the movie he is depicted as an orc, but in the book he is just described as the lieutenant under the Witch King. He also shares the name of the leader of the Balrogs, from Morgoth's time. (I am a SUPER LotR nerd, sorry :P) Anyway, great scene. Osgliath looks very, er, ruined.

Your trolls would fit right in with the trolls in the "Trolls Cave"

I waited to review this until now because I was waiting to see if Rubix Cube submitted an entry. While we are still waiting for Kelso to confirm our disqualification of Cube, I'm pretty sure you will be going through to Round 2. Nice build. We'll let you know.

There may be one ring to rule them all, but there's 3 judges to decide your fate. Nice build and good attention to detail. It's all in the details ya know... Good luck! ~ Chris.
