The Matoran as I kinda imagine them from Bionicle 2001.
About this creation
Suffice to say, I was a big fan of the Bionicle series when it first came out. Then after the year 2003 when Bionicle moved away from the Mask of Light to cover Metru Nui, I've moved farther away from Bionicle ever since. I don't think I can ever forgive LEGO for making Bionicle (in my personal, unimportant opinion) as stupid and unbelievable as it is today in 2008. How many islands and Makuta's have we gone through again?

Anyhow, I've pretty much ignored much of the storyline since the introduction of the Toa Hordika and I've been in my own little "Bionicle world" stuck in the pre-2003 times ever since. Anyhow, I thought the Matoran of 2001 were fairly cute in a noble Bionicle kind of way, albiet limited in terms of playability. The Mata Nui Online Adventure game (the original one) was really what bought these little guys to life for me, and I've been pretty much obcessed with them in one way or another since then. But after all these years, I've started to think: if you bought these Mctoran (2001 Matoran) into a more detailed persepective, what would they really look like? This MOC is my answer to that question, and I believe that even though my Matoran design is not the best or greatest out there, it keeps me happy for now. Enjoy.

My Matoran still look too big/manly-muscular for my tastes. *sigh*

A Mctoran and my Matoran version. I tried to make my versions as close to the 2001 size as possible to maintain their "cuteness."

Due to the my limitations of not having any red, blue, or black chest pieces, and any other accompanying pieces, my Matoran have been narrowed down to Po-Matoran, Ko-Matoran, and the one Le-Matoran shown before. Look at the chest pieces to see which Matoran they are.

A comment just to put in my opinion: The Metru Nui part is great, but after both the prequals, the storyline was horrid. I especially hate the last series. Hail Mata Nui. :P

Quoting Will P. i love the design. the McToran were cool. but my onlt question is this. i'm building one right now, how did you attach the head?
The head-attachment-thing was made up of three of these: connected altogether via this: and the connector in the center had this sticking out of it: I then had the center connector point in the opposite direction, 180 degrees, from the outer two connectors. I then had this entire thing put into the torso "casing". The head-attachment thing is not actually connected to the main connector by any conventional lego means, it's physically trapped in the torso casing. If you're confused, look at the back of the matoran. The connector you see at the very center of his back is one of these: From there, if you look at the matoran, I think you can figure out how to construct the torso casing and figure out how to trap the head-attachment-thing inside the casing. Play around with it. Hope this helps.

Quoting Bryan Barbalat Why did you insult the Mctorans? WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY?
I don't hate the Mctorans. I've expressed that already on this page. I thought they were the "best" Matorans this entire series has produced so far (at least to me). It's just that I got curious one day and made these and made some comparison shots pointing out flaws, pros, and random whatnot.

Wow! If you've lost your mind, so have I. Metru Nui was OKAY, but after that it all deflated. Beautiful remake! I love the le-matoran. You've been able to put in a ton of posability in such a tiny thing. Great job!

Awsome! Yeah, they should bring back the old Bionicles. I no longer follow the story line , but they have made some pretty neat sets and I have built many things using the new parts.

These are great! I have to agree, I miss having just one island with one Makuta and six toa at a time. Check out my custom Matoran design sometime!
