"You had something... that no one saw but me... Can you guess? ... Luck." Hey! I'm the Master Chief, Cortana, not effin' Harry Potter!
About this creation
It's been quite a while since I posted my last Halo LEGO update. I wish I
could say I've finished a new vehicle like the Brute Chopper or Hornet,
but alas, all I have for you this Halloween (this was created 10/30/2008) is this vignette
of the opening scene from Halo 3: "Sierra 117 - Arrival"...
"This ain't good."
"Damn. How far'd he fall?"
"Two kilometers, easy."
Sergeant Major Johnson: "Stay sharp!"
Wash: "His armor's locked up. Gel layer could have taken most of the
impact... I don't know, Sergeant Major."
Johnson: "Radio for VTOL, heavy lift gear. We're not leavin' him here."
Master Chief: "Yeah. You're not."
Johnson: *cough* "Crazy fool! Why do you always jump? One of these days,
you're gonna land on somethin' a stubborn as you are! And I don't do bits
Johnson: "Where is she, Chief? Where's Cortana?"
Chief: "She stayed behind."
Johnson: "Chief, wait! The Arbiter's with us!"
Johnson: "C'mon now... I've got enough to worry about without you two
tryin' to kill each other."
Arbiter: "Hmph. Were it so easy."
Arbiter: "We must go. The Brutes have our scent."
Johnson: "They must love the smell of a real man!"
Johnson: "First squad, you're my scouts. Move out! Quiet as you can."
Johnson: "And as for you... just try not to wreck my planet!"
(this line also changes if you're not playing with 3 or more players)
When playing the Halo 3 Campaign in 4-player co-op, player one is the
Master Chief, player two the Arbiter, player three a blue Elite in Combat
Armor named Ntho 'Sraom, and player four a maroon Elite in Assault Armor
named Usze 'Taham. Thankfully Bungie never made anyone in the game try to
say these ridiculous Elite names out loud.
Yes, I made some modifications to the Elite leg design. Basically, I
simplified it so that it would no longer require cutting up rods in order
to make new Elites. I don't really think the "megaphone" legs look quite
as good (and they also make the Elites a little too tall), but they're
easier to duplicate and build. So they'll do for now.
Old Half-Jaw also makes an appearance in Halo 3 as the rebel Elite "Ship
Master." This rank is the only name used for him since, as I said, Bungie
made the wise decision not to actually use any "real" Elite names.
Unfortunately, Shipmaster never leaves his ship through the entire course
of the game.
A shot of the new Elite back decals.
You know, as cool as this new "Halo: Recon" game sounds, I for one would
like to see some new alien worlds instead of just earth. Hey, Bungie! How
about a new game where you play as the Elites returning to their homeworld?
They could find it overrun with Brutes or Flood or something and have to
take it back. Player 1 could be the Arbiter, Player 2 could be Half-Jaw,
and Players 3 and 4 could be the same Elite guys from the Halo 3 campaign.
We could finally get an inside look at Elite society and culture. That'd
be awesome! And if you really want to have humans in the game, you could
make a human ship arrive to help their Elite allies take back their
homeworld. Some new Elite armor permutations would be nice too (preferably
with the mandibles showing). Just a thought.
As you can see, I rather like the Elites.
To answer your nagging questions:
1: The Chief's new helmet and chest armor are from an awesome website
http://www.brickforge.com. If you decide to place an order there, be
sure to let 'em know Saber-Scorpion sent ya!
3: The human assault rifles and pistols here are from another awesome site
http://www.brickarms.com. If you decide to place an order there, be
sure to tell him Saber-Scorpion sent ya!
The Dynamic Duo: Arby and the Chief.
Some people have commented that the Arbiter's armor is gold in Halo 3. As awesome as that would be (though hard to replicate since LEGO has few gold pieces), his armor actually only looks gold when the light strikes it a certain way (when backlit outdoors). When he's standing in most normal lighting, the Arbiter's armor looks bluish-grey as usual. I tried to do a little combination effect on my LEGO version using a yellow-to-grey gradient. Hope you like it.
UPDATE (11/21/2008): People are still arguing with me about the gold armor thing, apparently because McFarlane Toys mistakenly made their Halo 3 Arbiter action figure have gold armor. Yes, I say mistakenly. Action figure companies can make mistakes too. They probably only had certain screenshots to go by, and so they got it wrong. I'm going by the game itself, not an action figure. Proof:
- Here is an official Bungie screenshot showing the Arbiter looking gold. Notice the odd angle, and the light source behind opposite the viewer? This is the only way you can replicate this coloration. Here is a shot I took with this type of lighting.
- Now, here, here, and here are some additional screenshots I took (still on Sierra 117, and outdoors I might add - it looks even greyer indoors) of the Arbiter looking normal. As you can see, his armor is grey. Sorry to disappoint.
In reply to...
Elite Commando: Of course it is! How do you think I got these parts? ;)
JD Luse: Really? Now that is interesting. I'm glad LEGO seems to be giving "fan" designers more and more input.
1: I have now added some screenshots (see above) proving that the Arbiter is grey. Sorry, but McFarlane simply got it wrong. Maybe they only had a few screenshots to work with.
2: I'm working on the Commando armor, but it's not done yet.
3: I charge money for decals so I can continue buying LEGO sets and making more customs. Wouldn't you like to make money from your hobby too?
People who keep asking where I got the helmet/armor/decals/weapons: Please scroll up and look at the image caption that has the numbered entries and hyperlinks. That's your answer.
Nice, now, I don't mean to be, well, mean, but you should work on some Halo 4 armor and stuff like that. Just asking. But it would be sweet, this is a very awesome vignette, and I did think that the armor was gold, and I saw the pictures, so, thanks, and I also talk a lot, so bye now!
P.P.S People think this is a worthless comment.
This is one of my favourite creations, as well as game scenes! You are a very skilled builder. However, one question--how do you make the Assault Elite (Usze Taham's) head? I would appreciate a reply (maybe on your instructions page; even on your website would be great), but if not, I'll just estimate.
amazing I bought the arbiter decals along with half jaw and an alien commander. If you have not bought from him DO!!!Even my name "Cyber Tiger" came from your awesome name. This is one of my favorite halo models.
Hey, Saber-Scorpion, do you know that the Elites wear African robe things when they're not in armor? Yeah, weird, isn't it? Also, the guy who runs BrickArms lives really close to my church, which is five minutes away from my house! Cool, eh?
not to be rude or anything...but people can copy and then paste your decals out onto word or publisher then scale to right size and then print them out, sooooo it might be a good idea to change that.....
Sweet!!! I remember that scence from halo3. about your nova refuge novel, as I live in the uk and therefore can't buy it,could you make a Lego comic for moc pages about it.I like this moc , but it isn't as good as the newest halo combat evolved marines though. could you comment on my mocs please, because it would be an honuor for me.see ya.Connor
Hey Scorp nice vig. I tried making one called final battle and it failed. Oh well, this is Pretty darn cool, and I have a bunch of your decals too. Im also ready to order more ;). I also bought ghost instructions, and Im always giving you credit in my videos and whatnot!
I was always wondering when you were going to start using brickforge. I am a big fan of your site and have bought a few of your spartan decals. You should get a job at brickforge & sell them your ideas, man! You rock!

hi, saber scorpion. I'm quite a big fan and always keep saber scorpions lair on my favorites. I've taken a great inspirations from your custom minifigs, and I hope that you'll keep making more great custom designs.
Um... I'm not sure what to say... Well, I accidentally deleted you off my group. I invited you again, so feel free to join. Please, PLEASE join again! My brother said you'd never join my group, then you did, then I deleted you! I need at least one celebrity in my group. PLEASE JOIN!!!
hey scorp, come check out my stuff, and do you have gears of war 2, because i got it like a month ago, and i think it would be awesome if you tried to make some of the stuff from the game cause you would be amazing, and i love the design for the assault elite helmet, i never would have thought of that
Zacharriah Fucci: SPAWN made a gold Arbiter for fun. Like some companies make redesigned action figures of characters we know wouldnt normally be like that? They do have the correct color Arbiter though, so you should check it out.
the arbiter's armor is not gold or grey it is a rusty goldish color that shines in the light but is dull and grey-looking when not in light the question of if it is gold or grey is solved(almost anything can be solved by a comprimise)
I never played the game on normal, the first time I touched the campaign(Which was at least a week after it entered my home(We had too much fun playing multi player!).)I played it on LEGENDARY, and than to get all the skulls and achievements I went back and played it in HEROIC...I am not green, as in, I am not new to the world of HALO...'and I ain't no tree hugger either!' but he continually says "GREEN"...BAH... as for the other things Johnson says, Sean Kenny(The creator of MOCpages) says you can say whatever the heck you want on your creations or home page...it's the comments he filters...heh
I'm not a huge Halo fan, but those are some masterfully adhesive decals. Well done! Also, did you know that Agents Mission 6: Mobile Command Center - which I know you enjoy - was designed by Mark Stafford? (Who is here on MOCpages) I thought that was pretty cool. =)
those are awesome decals, on the marines, spartan and elites, great job.
I didn't know there was a white scorpion tank, I serached 'avalanche' on google and I found it, that's really interesting, maybe I make my skull tank a scropion now that I don't have to worry about the color anymore, thanks

Check out my stuff, i'm going to put my brickforge spartans on it.very, very good.
Caleb Blanchett: Sgt. Johnson only says "they must love the smell of green" if you're playing on Normal or Easy (with "green" being a pun on "green" as in "newbie"). If you're playing on Heroic, he says "They must love the smell of hero!", and if you're playing on Legendary, he says "They must love the smell of a real man!" There are some other things he says on Legendary, but they're not all printable here. :P
Hey!Thanks for the review of my version if this scene.
The new master chief rocks anyway...but I think you should change arbiters colour.
Yeah Ive read what you wrote about it but anyway.I wanna lick that chief but then his decals only fall off..oh well
Funny, I was just thinking that we needed a new 'Saber-Scorp' custom on the pages, and we get two! Thanks! Wonderful as ever, but I remember, in that scene, that in the crater the 'surfboard'(That is what I and my siblings call the thing John 117 rids to earth on(Because it looks like one!).)made there was water...heh...I also remember Johnson saying: "They must love the smell of green!" perhaps it is because I love that color so much...bah, Great creation, I hope to see more soon!
I love the newer chief you made!Nice vig too, and i like the assault helmet elite ALOT!By the way i sent you a friend request on Xbox Live from Wishbone 8 you should see my map called The Tunnels on my file share.(see if you can find a flamethrower!)
I was wondering when you were gonna post some more Halo. Its been far too long... Anyway, amazing vig. Great new styles and building techniques (Such as the maroon elites head). I dont see anything wrong with it. P.S. I agree with you that there should be some Halo games on other planets baesides Earth and the Halos (Could they be considered planets?). Also, you should make more vehicles, cuz some of yours are starting to be outmatched...
Well done, but I still think you should add more SNOT to your vigs. They are pretty nice nonetheless. If you check out my old Ascetic Elite or CHOCOLATE MILK's Elite (Which is the best out there.) you can try adapting those styles with your own to create a better Elite. LOL, it's ironic how I'm actually giving avice to the guy I once looked up to so much! (Absolutley no offense intended.) Again, nice little vig. Keep the bricks stackin'! ~Phong Chang
Zach: That's fine. I only deleted the previous comments because I didn't want the comments section to get filled up with flames and bickering. Feel free to leave your opinions though. Yeah, LEGO's new redesigned fire nozzles (the ones used for guns in the Agents sets) might work. I'll give it a try. The old ones tapered to a thin point that didn't hook in well though. Maybe that's what chief was referring to.
Why not just use black fire nozzles instead of megaphones?
For all "Chiefs" Yes, the fire nozzles DO fit into the 1 by 2 brick Justin uses for the hips of his elite. Stop saying it doesn't work.
I rate this 3 because it's not Justin's best also. Sorry Justin.
