It's a bird! It's A Plane!! IT'S A FROG!!!
-Most common remark made by random minifigs upon seeing the Mirage M-6 zoom past.
About this creation
A white blur flashes by. The crowd gasps! A Mirage M-6 is on the track! Blasting around curves with unequalled speed, it easily passes the other racers, bouncing up on its jump jets to hop right over annoying competitors. As the race draws to a close, the unparalleled Mirage squeezes off a burst of bright blue NOS to guaruntee a solid finish - first place, as usual. Safely past the finish line, it activiates its magnetic drag field and comes to a complete stop within 150 feet, pulling all of 4 g's. Another day in the life of the fastest racer on the track.
For this particular MOC, Thousand Eye has decided to create a wicked awesome drift scene for the photo shoot. (Are we not cool? Someone say no...or yes-I mean no...Which one means which? Who's on First?)
Anyway, my inspiration for the track section was Thunderhead Raceway from the movie Speed Racer.
NOW, please don't all go off and write bad reviews, I thought it was corny and campy too. But I did like the racetracks and cars (except for the stupid open cockpits).
And what's this? It's Bobby "Cheater" Jack at the controls! (And the crowd goes nuts) (Cue applause SFX)
Holy smokes! We are seriously proud of the drift smoke on this one.
There's the smoke again...why do you never see any tire smoke in Speed Racer? |:-/
11:00 am, race day.
This is the underside of my model of Thunderhead. The only thing that keeps those curved sections of track standing is pure, unrefined genius.
Overhead track shot. The white things are the Key To The Curveness (Wish I had them in black)
The race cameras. They are mounted on a force-field pillar which dekabobulates as racers drift through it, then rekabobulates and catches the cameras in mid-fall (if at all possible.)
You may be whispering He's **(cough)** crazy(cough)* But really, if a racer is gonna smash a pole, why not just prevent harm to the driver and nullify pole-reconstruction costs with a collapsable force-field?
OK, enough salesperson yammering. Honestly, we're starting to sound like the LIU. Horrors! Perish the thought!
The cameras up close. I could go on, bu this MOC isn't all about the background cameras.
This is what viewers are seeing right now. (Except without the cameras in the way.)
Alright, enough superlatives. Let's get down to actually showing you all of the Mirage's coolness.
To start, there's the cockpit. I have been totally unable to find a better racing/sport cockpit piece. This particular one really does give it an aggressive, lamborghini-ish feel.
Next up is the interior. It took 3 weeks and 6 versions to get the rear quarter panels and interior right.
The massive React® SCRAM engine + NOS ports + rear quarter panel with Monkey Skull Racing® logo. You do NOT want to be behind that bad boy when the NOS kicks in.
The roof scoop. NOS ports are on either side.
These are the Mirage's greatest assets: the Bluemoon Racing custom NOS-fed Jump Jets. These allow the Mirage to hop over annoying slowpokes and avoid aggressive drivers. (Who needs road rage? Just jump clear over that idiot's SUV!)
this is EXACTLY what i was looking for,not only a cool moc but also inspiration for when i get my grand prix set(they're still availble here)for x-mas, and since i don't have a lot of time i better get cracking great moc 100000/5
Well done! I got a good question: What does the phrase "Thousand Eye" even mean? LOL! It sounds so random.

It's a nice design, and the track is pretty nice, but the hand-drawn decals and how much they smudged is enough to detract from the whole thing. If you had used some set stickers or even just left the entire thing white, that would have been better. A solid effort, but the decals just take too much from it. If you redid this with regular printer tiles, or even cut up stickers, I'd happily give it a better score. Please try again, this is a nifty little racer and you're going the right way with it!
