The second Star Wars Imperial forest/jungle base, much bigger and better than the first one !
About this creation
***UPDATE : this model's now doubly obsolete, having been replaced by the bigger and better version 4.0 - check it out !***
I recently bought a couple of bix boxes full of lego at a car boot sale quite cheap - amongst the bits there were some green and blue baseplates and some more grey plates - yay! this meant I could transform my first, puny excuse of an imperial base (more like a campfire) into something a bit more substantial (if still relatively small)
Though I had more grey plates, I still didn't have enough to make anything "proper" so I used them as walls for the main building, just use your imagination for the floor and ceiling :)
(now though it looks nice to have a picture on the left with a description of each photo on the right of every one, like I did for my other creations, it's really quite tedious spacing everything out correctly on the HTML page, so since this time there's about 57 000 photos, I'll just write a complete description of the base after putting all the photos, first... sorry for my laziness lol)
OK now let's get to the base.... much bigger than the first version (about 3x bigger surface area, roughly) , I tried to keep as much as I could from the first version - though the land is differently shaped, it still has the shared land/water idea.
I kept the big rock with the satellite dish in the back; the platform on stilts (whch is now the landing pad for an Imperial Dropship ... thanks Stacey for giving us that!) , the two automated turrets are placed in the water and protect the dropship whilst landing and taking off.
On the right, I kept my Imperial Gunship in the background to keep the resemblance with the first base, but now there's a proper Speeder Bike park... The scout tropper is still playing Game Boy, he's showing his buddy he's just beaten the boss from wario land !
Coming to the main building of the base, which is accessed through those big door-pillar things, you can see a big generator for the base behind the front right wall, where an Imperial Officer is checking the display; next to him is our Imperial Nerd again, still playing with the satellite dish relay system (or whatever you want to call it).
Behind the front left wall is a toolbox, fitting all sorts of useful and obscure looking tools, on the left wall is a long table used as a sort of armory, and in the middle is , er, a table.
Against the rear wall, we have the food utilities : on the left, a drinks dispenser (guiness, heineken, rolling rock and kronenbourg) , and to the right the cooking station... mmmmm, looks like the entire company'll be eating fried eggs for dinner !
Hope you like it more than the first version !
P.S. If you are looking to buy lego for your creations, I would like to recommend the following Bricklink lego shop ; "About Town, Castle & Train" ( http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=stacey_love )
I personally know the shopholders, and they are very nice, devoted people. They are currently sponsoring 100% of my 1/3 Lamborghini project, providing all of the parts; and have made various other donations to other models I have made.
The store has a wide selection of parts (over 600,000!), at good prices, and offer an exceptional, fast service (no tax or dodgy exchange rates, next day postage, etc). you won't be disappointed !
