The all-terrain, all areas passenger plane of the USSR and Soviet Bloc. A wonderful airplane.
About this creation
I'm continuing my practise of adding some older MOCs here to test out the site. I suspect I'll just use it to document some personal favourites but for the time being the novelty is still keeping me involved. This time it's my version of the sturdy and rugged all-terrain passenger plane: the Antonov 28. If I understand correctly this plane was designed by Antonov but built mostly in Poland. It was mostly used to ferry people to places without proper runways.
The nose presented the biggest challenge of the design. It combines offsetting, a lot of SNOT and a few wedge pieces to achieve a proper nose shape with the stripes. The windscreen was a fortuitous melding of shapes.
As can be seen from this tail shot all the flaps (whatever the technical term for them is) move as they should. Getting the rear ones to work properly at an angle was a big challenge.
And finally I present it here in its natural environment. The sheep are a design by Ley Ward (whateverley). I've always got a soft spot for showing machines and animals together.
Hi guys, thanks for the comments.
Ralph> It's OK. I've said the same thing about yours ;) Seriously they are one of the hardest things to pull off well which brings me to...
Steffen> I would build more aircraft and I've started so many but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to them so most of my atttepts end up not making the cut.
What a fantastic model! I think I already wrote a comment on FlickR, but I just have to say something again cause itīs so great. Very realistic, about as aerodynamic as it can get in Legos... Please build more aircraft like this and keep us stunned like you did with the An-28. Best regards, Steffen
