Here we go with the whole Xarkon ship design story again, since I know you all like it so much:
When the Xarkonian military began work on a newer, heavier, tougher fighter than the standard Hugin Fighter, they hired a renowned starship designer from the country of Aplo, named Gegrion Adralis, for the job. He was instructed to make a ship called the Xarkon Valkyrie Heavy Aerospace Fighter-Bomber, and to do so in complete secret.
Geg poured all of his creative talent and design skill into the project and, working with a design team of the very best Xarkonian engineers and mechanics, he had a prototype Valkyrie ready in under two years. Due to his artistic nature, he incorporated a lot of Valkyrie symbology into the ship's design... the wings represented the wings on the typical helmet of a Valkyrie, the round gun turrets represented her shield, and the cannon attached to the third wing represented her spear. To add to all this, he had the prototype made in white, gold, and chrome silver.
Here we see the rotating gun cannon and artistic emblem (and name panel) of the Valkyrie prototype. Yes, I made the decals myself. I had to put them on there, because the white slope I used on the ship's nose actually has a big blue and red number "3" painted on it! Oh, and the little silver air intake sticker is from a LEGO Racers set. You'll see a lot of stuff from that set in here.
As you can see, the Valkyrie sports four engines; two main engines, and two Interstellar Drive engines on the wings. The Interstellar Drive feature was dropped on the final military version of the ship, thus it is only present on the prototype.
I bet you were wondering what those strange yellow-green disks were in the engines, weren't you? Well, they're the hubcaps from the LEGO Racers set I mentioned. I bought the set because it had silver and glow-in-the-dark pieces in it. I think glow-in-the-dark boosters were a cool idea, myself! No, this is not blacklight; it's actually dark. I turned all the lights off. Which is why it's such an awful picture... but you get the idea, right?
When I thought of this wing transformation idea, I started saying to myself: "Oh, I am SUCH a genius!" like Wile E. Coyote or the Monitor in Halo. I claim intellectual property rights to this wing transformation idea, and if you try to steal it, then I'll sue!
I've actually put more work into this ship's belly than any other ship I've ever done... It may not be perfect, but I tried my best! Yeah, this is what the landing gear look like all folded up. There's a bomb hatch on there, if you can spot the hinges. You'll see the bombs when you get to the regular military Valkyrie. Keep scrolling...
Here you can see how Adralis was attempting to make the ship look like the Crown of Xarkon (a military standard). His attempt to recreate the proper shape did not satisfy High Commander Lucas Mars, however.
Here we see a giant, freakish organic alien thing sucking the energy out of the ship's engines! GAAAH! This thing is even worse than a Fleebnork! Uh, so actually it's my hand. I was just trying to show you how the bottom wing can rotate. I didn't really intend for it to be able to, and the actual Xarkon ship (if it really existed) can't do this, but I took a picture of it anyway.
These pictures will make you DIZZY if you try to turn your head to be level with the actual floor in the image. So don't try it. Just pretend the background isn't there, kay? Oh, and whatever you do, don't look at my reflection in the Valkyrie's shield here. My knees just totally ruin the beauty of the ship.
This, my friend, is the Gungnir Shield Breaker Cannon, or Gung-Gun for short. No, I was kidding about the Gungan thing... definitely. Anyway, this cannon was one reason the Valkyrie was produced: so that Xarkon would have a ship with this gun mounted on it. The Gungnir builds up an extremely powerful charge and concentrates it into a single beam, which can overload (and pierce righ through) enemy ships' shields!
Oil?! This futuristic and technically advanced Aerospace fighter needs OIL?! No, it doesn't. I just stuck that there for fun. It's another sticker that came in that LEGO Racer set I keep talking about.
High Commander Mars walks in to inspect the Valkyrie Prototype. He frowns. The ship's designer (not shown) looks nervous, and then somewhat indigant. Mars studies the ship's weaponry and frowns. His eyes do not even linger on the girl that Geg got to show off his prototype ship for him.
No, Mars walks straight up to the shield panel and has some technicians remove it. "This," he says, "blocks the path of the missiles. Have its size diminished, and add more missiles to the missile bay." He then proceeds to criticize many other points of the ship's design. But he pays Gegrion Adralis TWICE the agreed upon fee... so that he will oversee the changes.
Oh, uh, here's an older picture of the Valkyrie (before I changed the landing gear and a few other things). I included it in the gallery because I don't think I took enough good pics of the ship's back side. I want to show off my impressive collection of white curved slopes, you know. Feathery-looking, isn't it? That was my intention...
The changes include: completely different wing shapes, more missiles, a lack of Interstellar Drive boosters, and differently-shaped shields over the laser guns. The large cones at the top, by the way, are the Heavy Space Bombs... really big missiles for taking down capital ships. The bombs on this particular military Valkyrie are thermonuclear warheads.
Certain people on my website forums are probably thinking: It's about TIME you posted this!!! Yeah, I showed it to the "Elites" of my board early and asked for advice. That's why I thickened up the wings and changed the landing gear...
"They wanted me to build them a bomb, so I took their plutonium, and in return gave them a shiny bomb casing I made out of pinball machine parts!" If you don't know what movie that's from, ask around, because you need to watch that movie.
"Make way...! I'm armed to the teeth, and packing a hamster!" If you don't know what game that's from, then ask around, because you NEED to play that game. Okay, I'll tell you: it's Baldur's Gate. I love that game...
I love the shape of this thing. It's like ... "The CLAAAAW! The Claw is our master! The Claw chooses who will go and who will stay!" If the Valk happens to choose your army's capital ship to Go, then it's doomed!
This is another old image, before I made the small changes the people on my forums suggested. I posted it here so that you could compare them... and because I didn't take any good new pictures with the gun panels fully opened up. The panels, by the way, are from the new Alpha Team sets. Yes, they're real LEGO pieces!
Now I pose a QUESTION to YOU who are kind enough to leave a review: Which version of the ship do YOU like better: prototype (white), or military (red)?
In reply to Totalimmortal: Yes, the red is really red. Both ships look just like you're seeing them, and they exist at the same time. You don't think I would fake you out without telling you, do you? If the red looks weird in some pictures, it's because of my camera, which makes red look pink, so I have to touch it up sometimes.
Military Red is the best! Go Scorp! This is by far my favourite of your Nova Refuge LEGO stuff! Good job, this is pure geniouse!

I now love the word Valkyrie because you made somthing worthy of that name! For the caption:
Guy with gun: Hey boss, can i ride shotgun?
Pilot: Yeah shure, just stop pointing your shotgun at me!
And i like both Valks. They both have somthing about them that makes each as lovable as the other....
oh my...scorp, you can do better, honestly. the wings are waaaaaaaaaay too plate-y, and the bottom could use some decent work, too. some more greebles around the Gugnir cannon is required, and maybe a few more greebles in general. i love it's shape and idea, but it just doesn't generate what your drawings do.
Woah sexy to be sure! Love the wing design! Hmm...prototype or military? Hmmm...it'd have to be the military one just 'cuz of the color scheme. I don't know about the name though...kinda long...needs something catchy!
Hmm, It looks pretty good, but I'm not sure about the way the colors are on either craft. Or maybe it's just how the pics were taken. But also the wings could use some tiles or something. Not really your best work.:/
Scorp... This is your best model yet (besides the Manegarm). I am just amazed... This is awesome! Oh, by the way, I like the way the prototype looks better. The white makes it look... pure. Anyway, good job!
I like it. Its a very creative moc. I really like the design of the third wing and how it can "transform". Personally, I like the red and black one better, but now I pose a question to you: Is the red really red?
