It all started with this little drawing in the "Art of Episode 3" book. Ryan Church's concept for a tank droid occupies hardly a tenth of the page, but it caught my attention.
I wouldn't have even dreamed of making the moc if I hadn't just gotten the Jawa Sandcrawler set, with its bounty of tank treads.
This moc took two weeks from first brick to posting the final photos. Along the way I got some help from the good folks at Classic-Space Forums, advice which contributed greatly to the success of the model. I continue to receive suggestons for model, which will definitely be implemented if/when a Version 2 strikes my fancy.
A good shot that shows off the technic workings a bit. The transforming feature works, but the support struts look too weak; one of the suggestions I receieved after posting this was to beef up the support beams a bit, which I will definitely do.
nice!! I got the book too and they do have some good concept art in there, one of which is a much better version for a greivous.... but anyways nice tank this should have totally replaced those tri-droids and nice battle droid too!
I like it

That definitely should've been in one of the movies. If it was, LEGO would've definitely made a set out of it, but it definitely wouldn't have been this good.
Good job on the Droid, Ryan. By the way, I want to congratulate you on joining LEGO. I guess now that Mark Stafford might teach you some things on becoming a LEGO Master Builder, too? By the way, will you take a look at my designs, please? I might not have much in the terms of greeble-like LEGO pieces, but then again, even most small designs do not have that many greebles on them anyway, so it is kind of hard to know what to make the greebles look like and to also not make them contradict with certain things like turret ranges and how turrets turn on a vessel or vehicle.
I don’t know how I missed this. It's incredible. I especially like the venting on the side of the gun. I was going to a tank like yours inspired by the same concept art, but after seeing yours there really is no point.
