A medieval town.
About this creation
My biggest project yet!!! I always thought that the Market Village was missing something, but when I saw This Creation . I decided to build something like it, but a bit more complex. I also thought that it would make it easier to play with, and to use in one of the parts in my fantasy comic (oops). The wall was not planned in the original build, it just came along. It also gave me opportunity to try out some tudor styling. This creation is so big that I won't even try to use poster board while photographing it!
The town of Harnsford is the last major city in the North of Alimara. It is warm enough in this village to grow crops, and thus market day, every Saturday, brings all of the peasants and even mercenaries from the surrounding countryside. A great wall surrounds Harnsford, protecting it from the East, North, and West. The river is it's defense from the south. The wall was built after a massive Troll raid in the year of 1020, First age. The town stretches to the North, until meeting the wall. It is watched over by Duke Kelnor's keep. Duke Kelnor is King Tigurer's brother. The keep lies to the East of the Town. The great forest stretches to the south. It is filled with bandits and other vile creatures. The only safe path is the Travellers Trail, which runs south from the town, until reaching the Mountains.
A top view of the creation. In the one that I based this on, the river was straight, I wanted mine to be curved.
The wall. Remember, this was not planned. One thing that bigs me about this is that the portcullis does not open. If it did, then the wall would have to have a big gap in it, and that would look ugly.
Another view of the tree and river.
The blacksmith showing off his wares.
The bustling market. I was originally planning on using only stuff from the market village (you know, other than the baseplate), but I figured that it would look nicer if it were all busy.
A thief!! The guards are chasing him. He is running towards his comrade, and then they hope to escape into the forest which lies beyond the river.
A view of the wall. As you can see, I added in a small tudor house, which is the guards armory. It is accessed by a small hidden door to the left side of the building (It actually isn't there.)
A view of the tree which marks the beginning of the forest. A cow grazes beside it.
The top of the wall. This was hard to make, because it had to be wider than 2x2. I also placed the table (slightly modified) here, because I wanted to use everyting from the original set.
Some smoke spiralling lazily from the chimney of the Blacksmith shop.
Another view of the commotion in the market.
The tudor building. This was hard to make, but I think that it looks rather nice.

it looks great! as for the castle gate not opening; if you could find to way a make a slot for it in there and tie a winch string to the gate, you COULD make it work! |

Cool! That modifications to the original set add a lot to the overall feel to it. I've been wanting to make a market square like yours since I got my Market set. |
