The Toa Hagah of Earth.
About this creation
Meet Bomonga, the Toa Hagah of Earth. Bomonga is a member of an elite team of Toa who used to work for the Brotherhood of Makuta. A long time ago, Bomonga and his fellow Toa Hagah were transformed into hideous half-beasts by the wicked Vortixx Roodaka. More recently, allied with the Toa Nuva, they found Roodaka and "persuaded" her to turn them back. They have since left on a mysterious mission into the heart of Metru Nui.
Bomonga wears the Great Mask of Growth, carved to resemble the Kanohi Ignika, the legendary Mask of Life. The carvers of his mask decided that an exact copy of the Ignika would be somewhat disrespectful, hence the crest over the top. This mask enables Bomonga to grow to enormous heights at will; as he grows, his strength grows proportionally. In an interesting coincidence, his mask power is exactly the opposite of Norik's.
Bomonga is by far the strongest Toa Hagah. He is the team's main assault brawler, able to deal out devastating damage with his element and his double-tipped seismic spear. He had a standard Hagah shield at one point too, but it was destroyed when the Hagah rescued the Mask of Light and fled the Brotherhood of Makuta. Shortly afterward, Bomonga ambushed and killed a Visorak Oohnorak that was tracking them, and used its carapace to fashion himself a new shield. Bomonga is quite pleased with it, but Norik has always thought of it as rather gruesome.

Bomonga bellowing a war cry. Intimidation is one of his favorite tactics. The main thing that makes him so brutally powerful is the fact that he fights on instinct; he can fight without having to think. Some have even called him borderline feral.

When I started designing Bomonga in 2007(before the Phantoka), I was slightly disappointed that there were no thigh/arm joint pieces in black. I was trying to find a way around the Toa Metru look, when I had a great idea: Why don't I make the rest of him dark gray too? I also wanted to make a Hagah with the dark pearl armor. Thanks to Hewkii and Maxilos, he came together nicely and fulfilled both of my goals. I also knew that the lack of a proper color shield would be a problem, so I came up with this instead.

A group shot of all the Toa Hagah I have so far. From the left, we see: Kualus, Iruini, Norik, Gaaki, and Bomonga.

After I bought Vamprah and Icarax last year, I realized that a black Bomonga was now possible. However, I will not change him at this point. Lego changed the design for the arm/thigh joint pieces, and using them would cause him to clash with the rest of the team. Even so, I wanted to try it at least once. So as a teaser shot, I present to you...

Black Bomonga!!

EDIT: This guy has had a redesign. He is black now instead of dark gray (this actually works better colorwise because the black contrasts with the gunmetal a little more). Also, imagine a SINGLE spear tip with the jagged Chima blade on the end. It took Lego, like, five years, but they finally released the perfect piece in the right color

Very nice. I like how you came up with a backstory for Bomonga using a visorak carapace for a shield. I am surprised at how well the Sanok looks as Pauldrons. Interesting use of the Nynrah darts as spear tips. Very impressive. Overall it is a great moc. KUTGW
