On the dense spore filled atmosphere and overgrown fungal planet of Felucia Commander Bly and the 327th Star Corps proceed with a routine scouting missions. A prototype AT-ST accompanies them.
About this creation
Dense vegitation envelopes the entire planet making navigation, fighting, and even surviving a difficult task for the Republic Forces. A special legion of clones fight for the planet wearing custom armor, allowing them to blend in and survive the hazardous environment. Larger vehicles such as AT-APs and AT-TEs were difficult to maneuver on the dense planet, and the smaller AT-RT proved to have insignificant armor. The prototype walker knownw as the AT-ST was developed to specifically deal with this environment. It was such a great design that in the later years of The Empire it was modified and mass produced.
An overview of the moc measuring 24 x 24 studs.
Another top shot of the moc.
Side shot of the moc with the walker making its way through the dense fungal growth with the guide of Bly and his troops. I really liked the giant orange plant obviously, but I thought this purple and yellow one turned out nice too.
Back shot of the moc and the walker. Though it may not look like it, all bricks and pieces are stable and have 'legal' connections.
This was a cool side shot of the walker through the orange-petaled plant.
Shot of the walker's feet on the spongy surface. I'll explain them further down.
Front shot of the moc without the walker.
Bly and his troops make it through the harsh but colorful landscape. I made this moc back in the summer before the new Battle Packs came out with the black accessories. I think the kama and pauldron look nice in bley in this moc.
Upper shot of the clones making along their way.
Landscape! Troops and walker removed.
Top shot of the landscape. I also like the mushroom-like pizza plant in this moc. I got the idea of those spore-like bubbles from The Force Unleashed. Once I get some more ideas I'll do a Force Unleashed Felucia ;)
The pizza plant- don't eat it, because it'll probably kill you!
Lower shot through the gulley/wash I tried to create. You can kind of see the change in elevation towards the sides here.
The walker and the landscape.
Alright! The Clone Wars prototype AT-ST compared to a standard 327th Trooper. In this shot the 'toes' of the walker are folded up. They can fold up for quicker maneuverability on even ground, or fold down for unsteady ground such as marshes and spongy planets like Felucia.
Side shot of the walker. I put plants and spores all over the vehicle to give a better sense of it being used and 'infected' on Felucia. Also because it offers nice camouflage to the walker.
Shot of the other side.
Yes the joints really move at the knees and the hips of the walker. I did however realize later that the legs should not bend like that, but hey, I did say it was a prototype. Also here we see the toes of the walker folded down.
The joints- probably not the best design but this was basically my first walker/mecha moc, so I'll improve.
Shot of the front cockpit and windscreen of the AT-ST. There is a pilot inside.
Another shot of the front. Twin blaster cannons are located under the cockpit and can rotate.
On the right side of the walker there are laser guided reciprocating blasters.
Full shot of the right side with the greebles/angles exposed. This was one of my favorite looks of the walker.
A grenade/rocket launcher is located on the left side. Top shot of the walker.
Those exo-force sets and pieces were finally a good investment!
Back shot of the walker and engine drives. The only good thing that came out of Anakin's Jedi Starfighter from The Clone Wars were those two yellow stickers. They added nice detail here.
The back folds open to allow entry and exit for the pilot.
As you can see he fits quite snugly!
This walker/moc was made in August 2008 for the CABG small walkers contest. It took me about 7 hours to complete. Hope you enjoyed it!
One thing I like especially about this diorama is how tall the plants are, on a lot of felucia MOCs the plants are hardly taller than a minifig, when in episode 3 the flowers/trees tower above evan an AT-AP!
Quoting Commander Fed
The Walker could be a little Fatter because it looks like it can be taken down fast anyway thats not what I am here to say [type] This Felucia is amazing the best I have seen!!! The plants are amazing!!! Great work!!!
Thank you, and yes I understand it looks like a mech. I also made it to look like a prototype and relatively small.
Thanks for the comments guys! I did spend a long time on this- about 7 hours.
