The Skunk Works Out . Feel the burn, baby. . Some old gym scenes, originally built and photographed in July '08. They were sort of commissioned by my sister ("sort of" because I wasn't being paid) to be decoration on the walls of an actual gym. The plan was to make a lot more in this vein, but long story short -- due to unfortunate circumstances they became no longer needed. I did think about making some more for my own enjoyment, and to pad this MOCpages post, but... I'm already seven hundred ideas past this now, and it just ain't gonna happen. I have come to the conclusion that Lego needs to greatly expand their 2x2 printed tile selection. I have lost count of the number of MOCs in which I've tried using the ones I have as wall art. Some work better than others. A mushroom print is always welcome as far as I'm concerned, but I get tired of using treasure maps. This one turned out really well. Interestingly, and completely unexpected to me, when I posted it on flickr it sparked a debate on mixing skin colors among minifigs. In short, the opposing viewpoint was that it introduces the element of race where none existed before. Check out the notes all over the picture there if you're interested. Me, I have no problem with multi-ethnic minifigs -- unless they're of the peach-skinned persuasion. Which is weird because that's the closest to my own skin tone... it just looks wrong on a minifig to me. Pretty simple. I remember seeing that ball joint piece used as a boxing glove ages and ages ago, somewhere on Brickshelf. One of those neat little details that sticks in your head, ready to be "borrowed" when the situation arises. My favorite of the four. It edges out the freeweights scene by virtue of the kickass treadmills (I stayed up most of one night when I should have been sleeping to come up with that design) and the dudes checking out the hottie walking past. It adds a bit of humor to what would otherwise be a fairly ho-hum scene. That's it for today, go hit the showers.
