The Invasion . . Welcome to the quite seaside town of Afolsville. A community in imminent danger. A community that after today, shall never be the same. Let’s take a look around first and see if we can figure out why this town is set in the sights of disaster… Here we have the Brian Darrow “Blacktron” beachfront resort. With only a small number of rooms available, the cliental is very selective and only the crème de la crème can afford to stay here… How Kelso got a room we’ll never know. The “Red Light Adult Emporium” owned by Heath Flor and his lovely wife Amber. This used to be a bar that they called “Hit the Flor” but people were taking it too literally and Heath and Amber couldn’t take being donkey punched that many times. The Shannonia museum. Shannon Young’s micro city eventually grew to such a massive size, that it needed its own building just to house and display. The “Kescenovitz Woodland Lodge.” Although this is smack dab in the middle of a city, Brian only knows about the backwoods of Wisconsin and figured it was close enough to the nature park that he could get away with it. Although everyone sees just how dumb it is to have a woodland lodge in the middle of a city, one look at Brian and they decide it’s best to just let that one go… The “Chris Phipson Memorial Nature Park.” In honor of Chris, all of the bushes have been trimmed back. I guess he really did become that predictable. “El Precio es Correcto” Mexican eatery… those of you that know the owner Dennis Price know why this is so funny. The “Dr. Jones Clinic.” As you can see, Dr. Jones had the architects design the building so that anyone who bothered to take a second, could figure out exactly what they would get if they came here for treatment. Kenney Tower. From high above most of the city, Sean Kenney watches over his minions and passes judgment, commenting on only the mocs of those that pay him well. He accepts Visa, Mastercard and Paypal. The Amsterdam hotel. Owner operator Stacy Sterling said she came up with the idea for this on one of her personal sabbaticals to Europe. She has stated on many occasions that with the amount of time she spent behind the curtain, this was the next natural step. Next up is the Dave Sterling “Track laying Trainyard" where Dave lays track with all the best track layers from around the globe. On the left is the Steef De Prouw Longship construction facility. I guess Steef’s ships aren’t the only thing he likes to build in this design. On the right, Kelso Spire. Why does the word "overcompensate" come to mind when I look at this? Keith Goldman’s Legoratory. In case any of you were wondering how he builds what he does. The large factory building is where the bulk of each moc is made. To the right is his house and behind that… the slave quarters. That’s where Kescenovitz had to stay when he went to Keith’s to shoot Zero Hour. The AFOLs decided to build their commune here due to the tranquility and breathtaking landscape like this cliff/plateau here… but all is not quite on the western front. It began early one Sunday morning. The invaders knew that the AFOLs would be sleeping it off after another hard Saturday night, and they were right. Those poor saps never knew what hit them. It was a slaughter, the likes of which had not been seen since the Darkspawn massacre of 2006. The attack came from all sides. There was no escape and no mercy. Tactical nukes were deployed to make sure that none survived. The invaders wanted no survivors and no witnesses. This was personal. The invading General, J.D. Luse made this comment: “Today was the first step in taking over MOCpages. I promise you, the remaining AFOLs in hiding will be hunted down and destroyed. Soon, it will all be OURS! HAHAHAHA!” (don't worry, that evil laugh will sound much better once his voice breaks) The TFOLs had made their first strike against the aging AFOLs. It was not the first battle in this war, nor will it be the last. And to the winner, goes the spoils. Fourth Wall Commentary: Ok, so I saw this and thought “hey, I can do that!” So I took the basic idea of the river and redid it… my next problem was “what to build with it?” My first thought was the micro city here, but I wasn’t sure how I wanted it to play out. Do I basically rip off Shannon Young and his Shannonia or do I take it a step further? I decided to go one step further with the invasion of the city. It wasn’t until I loaded the pics that I decided to make it AFOLs vs TFOLs. Being the fair and magnanimous individual that I am, I decided to let the TFOLs have their fun and win this round. Enjoy it guys, that’s all you get hahaha. Thanks for checking it out as always! Till next time true believers! Edit: Further inspiration for this came from me wanting to try my hands at a MocOlypmpics cateogory and build it within the rules of the game. This would have been for either the microscale or whateverscape category. I started building this on Sunday night and finished it Tuesday then took the pics this morning (Thursday) and posted it. Man, if I wasn't so ADHD and could spend longer than basically a few hours total on a build... For those interested in what happens next in this saga, click here!
