Heavy Armed Construction Tanker . Heavy Armed Construction Tanker. A micro scale heavy tanker armed to defend against pirates. . The Heavy Armed Construction Tanker was the Company's first succesful freighter designed to move fuel and gaseous materials to offworld construction projects. Prior to the HACT going into service, much loss of life and resources were suffered at the hands of deep space pirates who would cripple the unarmed ships, plunder all cargo and useful technology onboard and leave the craft a floating carcass in space. It soon became too costly to escort these craft with smaller armed vessels which were unsuited for deep space deliveries. And so the Company designed the first heavy tanker fitted out with a devestating laser battery. In order to eliminate the need to carry solid ammunition for a typical projectile cannon, the six barrels of the laser array draw power from the main drive engines. Enough power to eliminate small to medium sized attack craft and represent a real problem to pirates. I have been inspired by the micro creations of some of the Japanese designers - so I thought I'd go as SNOT crazy as I could and see if I could make something worthwhile... 6 June 2006 - In retrospect, I shoulda called this thing a tanker, given the cylindrical nature of the 'cargo bay', some edits made...
