A British Christmas (A.D. 500) . Cold. Wet. Britain. . Two Roman soldiers make camp in some abandoned ruins in Britain. Their fire gives them warmth, but food is still rare. On this Christmas day, they have little to be thankful for, yet they rejoice that their Savior was born and that is enough. Aurelius must keep guard, yet his mind begins to wander to his family back home, and the fields he used to sow. How he wishes to be back there again, among the golden wheat and temperate weather. Some ivy grows out of the wall, with one single blossom. The cross stands tall, a brave symbol of God's love for man. The fire blazes and spews forth warmth. The overhead. You can see how the stone floor is discolored in places. Maximus stares dreamily into the fire, remembering when he and his friends used to camp back in Rome. What a far-cry form his present experiences, characterized by pain and drudgery. An ancient sign placed here in Rome's golden era, proclaiming these ruins to be the site of the Keep of Caldonia. Merry Christmas to all! Fourth wall commentary: This Moc is dedicated to our troops overseas who can't be with their friends and family at this time of year. Merry Christmas, and always remember the real reason for the season!
