German U-boat . This is a 4.5 foot German U-boat Took a very long time to make. This is the second version with a larger conning tower and better interior. . Here is my german U-boat This is my 3rd? version maybe version 2.5 but I added a lot more details U-boats were used in World War 1 and World War 2 They were German submarines that were used to destroy supply ships and sometimes to sink warships. Although during world war 2 U-boats were not as succesful because they could be easily spotted from the air when either close to the surface or on the surface. When seen U-boats could easily be destroyed by depth charges. U-boats ranged from about 210 feet long to 300 feet. Conditions were very cramped-a crew of about 45 all sharing one or two toilets. The use of U-boats stopped after world war 2 and the use of all diesel and steampowered submarines stopped after the invention of the nuclear submarine in 1959. 1/20/12-4,000 views! wow! thanks guys! this model took me one medium sized order from lego plz enjoy the pics! Here is the back simple enough This is the new conning tower with a new gun and communications cable Here is the inside like some viewers requested. this is less cramped than a normal U-boat. More interior shots I made many improvements on this version I made the bottom red (earlier I didn't know what color the hull was) I also added a net cutter (as most U-boats do) and I improved the gun on the deck This is not a fully accurate model the hull is usually red and the conning tower is normally taller but I ran out of red pieces so this is it. I know this makes people not want to rate and comment but, Please!! rate and comment!!
