Why?
Rock'em Sock'em Robots . For The Golden Archers in the category of "it's only a game". I decided to do one of my favorite games from way back, when kids played board games instead of video games. Rock'em Sock'em Robots! Since this category is all about making a playable game, i spent a good four hours on the mechanisms inside the base alone. Then i had to build the arena and the two robots around all those mechanics. Phew... that was a looong day! Hope you like it :) . In this corner is the Red Rocket! And in this corner is the Blue Bomber! Here are the controls for one of the robots. Yes they actually work! And here is the proof. When i push down on one of the buttons, one of the robot's arms takes a jab at his opponent. And here is the heads. I couldn't find a way to incorporate any kind of mechanics for the head, so i put one of those technic missile launchers in each robot and moved the area you are supposed to aim for to the chest. When you hit the gear on a robots belly, the head goes flying! A lot more dramatic than it just popping up :) Here you can see the launchers built into their bodies. And finally is an overhead view of the entire arena.
