Luke's Delirium . Team: Terrorificante Triangulo Diabolico. MOCathalon catagory: I can Write Better than George Lucas. . Luke awoke to find himself hanging upside down in a cave, a terrible sound came from the corner and he glanced the creature who made it. A terrific waampa stood gnawing on the remains of his last victim, fortunately it did not notice that Luke was awake. Luke's lightsaber had fallen from his belt and was now wedged in the snow just out of reach. He used the force, taught to him by the late Ben Kenobe, and his lightsaber flew into his hand. Quick as lightening, He sliced through the snow that chained his feet, and rushed to defend himself against the creature at the cave exit. He left the creature howling in pain and ventured out into the evening blizzard of the ice planet Hoth. The snow was thick and the cold and the injuries inflicted from the Waampa had left his body drained of all strength. All seemed lost. Then through the thick haze the image of Ben Kenobe stood before him. "Luke, you must go to the Dagobah system, there you will learn from Yoda, the Jedi Master who instructed me." "Ben!" Luke cried out but the vision started fading... and so did Luke. As death drew ever nearer, Luke began to dream... He saw a home and a family. His family. In his delirium he dreamed of the parents he never knew and of the life that might have been. "Mom! Dad!" "Come Luke! Come home!" He rushed into their waiting arms and Luke was happy. Luke had found his parents, he now saw before him the childhood every child deserves. And Luke was happy. Over the next ten years, Luke grew to a fine young man. He graduated with honours from the Pilot Acadamy. And his family was there with him through it all. When he reached adulthood, he was ready to leave the nest. He headed off into the unknown universe and his family were there to wave him goodbye. Luke was happy, he was loved... +++++++++++ Luke awoke in a huge tank of water in a white room. "Oh no" he sighed with regret as he focused on his surroundings, "it was only a dream." His heart sank... But then he saw five familiar faces staring anxiously at him. They were faces full with love and concern for him. They were the faces of his new family... and Luke realised then that he was truly happy. ***** Notes: The Empire Strikes Back is my favourite film for two reasons, first and foremost because of the beautiful cinematography, of which I have yet to see its equal. And secondly because although it is set in space amidst an epic war it is a completely character driven film. I decided to explore in this moc an aspect of Luke's character that is only touched upon in one brief line in Return of the Jedi, when he says to Leia: "I have no memory of my mother, I never knew her." Luke has been living with this feeling pressed deep down his whole life and I felt that in the moment when he was closest to death his mind would bring it to the surface so he can die peacefully. I like to believe that we all die in peace, no matter how dramatic the outside events may be.
