AD-11E Sickle Hover Dropship . When troops need to get around the battlefield quickly, they take to the air in the AD-11E Sickle Dropship. It is the ESC equal to the BlackHawk Helicopter. . The AD-11E VTOL Dropship, or known as the Sickle to troops, who have been dropped then looked up to see the Sickle cut loose with its weaponry. The foreward hover turbines rotate on their support booms to provide directional thrust for hovering, or foreward or reverse movement. Seen here, the AD-11E's hover turbines are turned to provide hover. The underside of the AD-11E, showing the bow mounted weapons, two 145mm Autocanons (which fire self-propelled shells for reduced recoil), and a .5 calibre gatling gun. While using the Sickle's hover capabilty, these weapons are extremely potent, especially while rotating the dropship. Along each side of the Sickle is a 5-round rocket launcher for heavier targets, further adding to the offensive capability of this aircraft. The landing gear fore of the craft fold up along the ammo holds of the autocannons, providing additional protection to the ammo, while the aft gear fold up against the cabin door, locking it in place. The Sickle as seen resting on its landing gear, though the Sickle does not need to land on the gear. The gear give the necesary height for the loading door to lower, or for underhull maintenance. The cabin loading door lowered as a ramp for troops to load and offload. The Sickle can carry a full Marine 6-man squad and their gear. The pilot inside the bow cockpit. Sickles are often used for medivacs. The full face visor see on the helmet here give a full face headsup display with tactical data.
