Morituri Te Salutant . . "Ave Imperator, morituri te salutant!" - "Hail, Emperor, those who are about to die salute you!" This MOC is a first for me on a couple levels; first, it is one of my first, if not my first, serious ancient history MOC. And second, it's built on a 32 x 32 baseplate; I cannot remember the last time I used one! It was an interesting study in Roman architecture, especially the columns. The arena's walls also turned out to be rather tricky; if you look closely, you can see the arches over the gate and the juxtaposing windows are upside-down. I also played with different feels and textures - from the wooden planks patching up the right half of the roof (just to mix it up!), to the tan stonework to the studded, dark tan dirt. But by far the most fun I had with this MOC were the minifigures; all of the parts in this MOC are, of course, official, so the gladiators (and especially the Roman soldiers) were oodles of fun to put together.
