LEGO Halo Grunts on LDD . Grunts: stupidly overwhelming and overwhelmingly stupid. .
LDD is working again! Sort of. There are some very important and fatal problems still, but fortunately I have it working at this moment. So I give you my Grunts! The above and below pictures are also of the first Grunt, the minor.
And yes, before I forget, this is not my building strategy here. All credit for the body, legs, arms, and some of the apparatuses goes to Newt King, or N3WT K1NG as he goes. He's another guy you should go check out: his LDD skills are very good and I consider him to be one of the better LDD users on the Pages.
A shot of the top left of our grunt, showing the apparatus and how I made the shoulders. The only things I did change for the Grunt are the feet (I don't know, the circular ones look better...) and the head, which turns on a swivel and (IMO) has a better methane re-breather thingy.
Here are some Grunt Majors, the one on the left pertaining to Halo 3 era and the one on the right pertaining to Reach. This is how the rest of the Grunts will go on this page, with a Halo 3 version and a Reach version. Moving right along...
A side shot of the major, which you may have noticed looks like the minor--because it IS the minor. I imported a minor, changed its color, and viola, a Halo 3 major. That's basically how it is in the game, too.
Reach grunts, however, can be different from their other ranks not only by color, but also by armor. The grunt minor above appears basically the same in both games, but in Reach the major has a new 2-flap thingy methane tank. I basically took Newt's version of it, because in my opinion, it could be no better.
Here's a shot of the Heavy Grunts, which are lime green because I *still* don't have Universe mode on LDD yet. This is how people like Newt and Bunki were able to customize things in LDD that blew my mind. My computer sucks.
I think you pretty much know how to build the Halo 3 version now, so I'm going straight to the Reach version. This one, unlike the previous two that I showed, has a different body and a new head, which is similar to the way Newt did it. I wish the head was better though...
One thing I thought I DID do well was the methane tank, which looks like a beer barrel on the Grunt's back in the screenshots. I tried to make that circular cylindrical type shape, and I think I did it pretty well, and also I think I did it better than Newt.
The Spec-Ops grunts were a sigh of relief because they were so easy. Really nothing to see here...same old, same old. In the old days...*rants on about the time before cell phones*
Just a butt shot of the Reach version, which has the tank of a major and the head of a heavy, all dressed in jet black armor. That's the definition of a grunt. This picture is just to show that there is almost no difference between this and the way Newt made it. What a great job.
Grunt Ultras! These are pretty powerful so I here. They look so pure and Apple-like...
Here's a shot of the Reach version, which has the tank of a heavy and an all new head that I made. I think it's basically a wee bit worse than Newt's and in my opinion neither satisfied me. I'll get it some time when new grunts come out, if any.
The Grunt Rebellion! I had to have this group photo. Some things to notice:
-One Grunt ultra has a Plasma cannon, and is having a hard time carrying it.
-2 grunts, one ultra and one heavy, have fuel rod cannons.
-2 minor grunts somehow got their hands on spike grenades.
-1 major grunt has dual wielded plasma rifles.
-1 heavy has a Reach plasma repeater.
Oh, what those pesky grunts will do! You may also notice that there is a grey spec-ops Halo-3 grunt, simply because when I took the old picture I noticed the grunt was black, which was incorrect because in Halo 3 the specs are supposed to be "lilac," which is a pretty stupid color in my opinion. Grey matched it best.
You're the arbiter facing all of these grunts. Now you wonder why you got in this job in the first place.
