RMS Olympic (Titanic's sister ship) . The RMS Olympic, Titanic's overshadowed sister . The RMS Olympic was built in July/August 2004 and completed on 1 September 2004. Like her namesake she was built as a group of three, the other two being RMS Titanic and HMHS Britannic. The Olympic was not the first ocean liner I had built, but at the time was the largest and used techniques I had not incorporated into liners before. RMS Titanic was broken up a few years later and HMHS Britannic was rebuilt in 2009, only to be sunk in 2016. The Olympic has undergone several modifications over its lifetime: - 8th November 2005 to 10th January 2006 - Superstructure and funnels removed and remodelled. Hull remained the same save for alterations made to the stern - 12th May 2006 to 4th October 2006 – Olympic underwent restoration with new superstructure and lights in the hull - 13th October to October 20th 2006 – the Olympic’s bow and stern was replaced by a new design. This was after a collision that damaged the keel - October 25th 2006 – The Olympic’s lights are realigned and an A-deck promenade is installed - November 15th 2006 - Olympic’s funnels are replaced with black ones - 14th August 2008 to 22nd August 2008 – A refurbishment extends the length of the Olympic and incorporates new features. The black funnels were removed. - 2nd June 2011 – Olympic is stripped down for cleaning and maintenance - 19th July 2016 to 21st August 2016 – Olympic is overhauled The Olympic's restoration was completed at the end of August 2016. It was stripped down to the keel and slowly rebuilt incorporating techniques that were trialled on Gigantic (now scrapped). The Olympic has new lighting, rotating propellers and will, on 1 September 2017, celebrate it's 13th birthday. I am also trying to get the Olympic made into an official set here
