Imperial Sandcrawler . Star Wars Imperial Sandcrawler, "As Seen On Tatooine" (TM) . Hi all, Yes, I'm spending part of christmas morning uploading a lego creation. How sad. Anyway, here's a nice little change to cars - another Star Wars model. One day I imagined a sort of militarised Imperial sandcrawler, and thought I may do a drawing of it at some point - though since I ended up at home unexpectedly over christmas, I thought making a Lego one would be even more fun. So I did. It's not supposed to be an exact copy of a Jawa sandcrawler - obviously the shape is a little different, especially around the front. It coincidentally ended up roughly the same size as the official lego sandcrawler (which is woefully under-scaled though), a little less tall but maybe a little longer. This would be either a captures sandcrawler converted for military use; or an Imperial design based on the original jawa one. This one's fairly new, not yet rusted out [I had more grey baseplates than brown in other words... though I would have done grey anyway]. In fact it's a miracle I could make this at all - I really didn't think I'd have the parts seeing as most of the grey is on my forest base - I managed to somehow make this by putting together a load of parts that weren't much good for anything else. The final effect sorta looks pretty good actually, in my opinion. Anyway let's go on a little tour/description... The sandcrawler is driven by four big tracks, with four big wheels inside of each. The body is made of armored durasteel, and has openings on the front and back. The cockpit is situated as far forward and as high as possible, giving the driver excellent long-range view out of the 360 window. On the outside, at arm level, between the two sets of tracks each side are some lockers where ... stuff can be stored. The inside has three main areas - the front storage compartment, the first floor and the rear compartment. The front storage compartment isn't too hard to work out - they throw junk and stuff in there. At the moment it's housing two large power cells, a large weapons and supplies pod, and a power droid. Note the nets hanging from the ceiling to give even more storage space. On the first floor, the cockpit is at the very front, to either side just behind the cockpit are weapons and equipment racks; and behind them are benches for the stormtroopers to sit on. On either side of the first floor, a small walkway runs to the back of the sandcrawler, overlooking the rear compartment; and a ladder is placed centrally to link both floors. The rear compartment is seperated from the storage compartment by a chain (you might be able to see it - I couldn't get very good photos of that bit), the sides are waist-height shelves on which random stuff or people might sit. In the middle of the rear compartment is the parking place of the scout vehicle. The scout vehicle is a fast, lightweight (but somewhat armored) tracked vehicle inspired by real-life jeeps and tanks - something between the two, and star wars-ised. And a lot smaller. It has a small gun for defense, and a large back area, which can fit either a couple more stormtroopers, or equipment or salvage etc... So there you have it... I can't think of much else to say about this, so just take a look at the photos and enjoy ! - Dan
