AB1M2 'Moa' Combat Platform . . AB1M2 ‘Moa’ Combat Platform™ Lore: The AB1M2 has a long and storied history; it was originally manufactured for the burgeoning Home Systems Alliance military ground operations. During the Contact Wars thousands of these mid-sized combat walkers were sent to the Colonies to see active duty in dozens of campaigns across numerous worlds representing almost every conceivable combat environment. The ‘Moa’ as it was called by its colonial operators proved a reliable, balanced and powerfully equipped ambulatory biped. After the Contact Wars most of the surviving Moa were absorbed into colonial planetary defense forces. When the War for Independence began these walkers were pressed into frontline duty, and despite their age, performed as well as they had decades earlier. The Home Systems Alliance military branch also known as PALADIN fields their own updated version called the AB3M1 ‘Katana’, this model is very similar to the Moa, but boasts upgrades to armor, power plant, and offensive capabilities. The walker’s single handler sits in the command cockpit which resembles and is often referred to as the ‘head’. Onboard computer programs monitor traction and stability, freeing the handler to focus solely on combat performance. The Moa is classified as a medium armor combat platform, and its primary role is infantry/armor support and reconnaissance. Despite the classification these walkers have performed in several varying roles, and numerous specialized variations exist with alternate weapon load outs. The twin G82 46mm cannons are drum fed, each with 56 rounds and is primarily used to engage vehicles, emplacements, and infantry fortified structures. The Seiker 12mm Gatling gun is also drum fed with 886 rounds carried onboard, this four barreled water cooled rapid fire weapon is primarily designed to engage infantry and soft-skinned vehicles and excels at providing suppressive fire for friendly infantry. The last weapon platform on the Moa is its most versatile, the four Dodson 80mm tubes can be pre-loaded with folding fin high explosive rockets, or anti-infantry fragmentation mortars, signal flares, low bounce air-fuel grenades, or ready to fire ‘Mamushi’ anti-aircraft missiles to name just a few of the optional combat presets. ____________________________________________________________________________
