F-35C Lightning II . This is my 1:39, minifig scale F-35C Lightning II, the world's first carrierborne 5th generation Stealth Fighter, brought to you by none other than the US Navy, which will be entering service within a few years. My moc is 51 x 44 studs and took about 2 hours of building and then maybe 3 hours of tinkering over the following days. I built it out of my F/A-18F, as we don't have the resources to buy parts new for every moc we build. The real life F-35C is 51 x 43 feet, weighs 34800 pounds, and carries over 18000 pounds of weapons using external pylons. It carries ~20000 pounds of fuel and can carry either 2 Bombs (normally GBU-31 2000lb JDAM GPS Guided Bombs) and 2 missiles (normally a mix of AIM-120 Radar Guided and AIM-9 IR Guided missiles) or 6 missiles internally. As said above far more ordinance can be carried externally, but that compromises stealth. It is equipped with a stealth gunpod on the centerline containing a GAU-22/A 25mm Cannon with 220 rounds, which displaces the now normal but slighty out of date M61 Vulcan that we have seen on most US Fighters since the F-104. I am looking forward to comments and suggestions. Before anyone asks, I tinkered with weapons bays in the bottom for a few hours one morning, but was never satisfied with the way the doors trashed the sturdiness and accurate appearance of the model. .
