Battlestar Galactica Hangar Deck . Colonial Battlestars, such as the Galactica, have two Flight Pods for launching and receiving various space craft. . A hub of activity, multiple crews of technicians, control officers, and pilots maintain the Vipers and Raptors around the clock. Here we see a Raptor being backed into a repair bay. A great deal of skill is necessary to maneuver the vehicles within such a confined space. Marines maintain a presence on the Hangar Deck, providing security for the major point of entry to the ship. Personnel carts provide rapid movement of technicians or pilots along the vast length of the Deck. Much of the work on the Hangar Deck is challenging. The Vipers and Raptors take a pounding, from micro meteoroids to novice pilots crushing landing gear during Combat Landings. Here we see the deployment of a Medical Raptor. Even the Ambulance crew is required to log flight time to maintain top performance in case of emergencies. There are many distractions on the Hangar Deck... "Hey, Hal ! Watch where you're goin' for cryin' out loud!!" Much like the CIC, the Hangar Deck is an example of organized chaos. But the most important mission for the Deck Crew is keeping the Viper Wing ready for combat! Coming down the stairs, CMDR Leonard Barto, Commander Air Group, or CAG, ready to go on Combat Air Patrol, or CAP, while the Galactica orbits Kobol, original home of the Thirteen Tribes. LT Chettina Kuo, Deck Chief, prepares CMDR Barto for his mission. Kuo: "Be back in time for dinner?" Mav: "Sure! What do you feel like? Want me to pick up a Pizza?" Kuo: "You wish! I think it's Pork and Beans...Again..." Mav: "Better crank the Air Scrubbers to MAX!"
