Vending Machine II . It dispenses 13 different products, cans, chocolates, popcorn, french fries, and so on. It accepts coins from 0.05 to 2€ and gives the right exchange. More details below! . This new MOC comes from my previous work: Smart Candy Machine. Since I have become a member of PLUG, I was encouraged to try a better and bigger one. This time, it’s very developed comparing to the first one!
It took all summer of 2006. But, this project is on my mind a long time ago. The body (where products take place) was virtually built in MLCAD to know what kind and quantity of pieces were required. After building the “brain”, where all coins control is processed, I bought all pieces that were in need to build the body. Then, unfortunately, I destroyed my Ferrari sets, 8653 and 8386, to build the block in the back, responsible to reach each product and dispense it. This way, almost everything is old style, but the back has new style (studless).
1 – Firstly, the user inserts the coins, from 0.05€ to 2€, 6 different coins. While processing the recognition of each one, the slot is locked to avoid blockage;
2 – The user digits the number of the product required through a keyboard (1-5). There are 13 different products (total of 57 products) and they’re numbered in three shelves, like this: 11, 12, 13…; 21, 22, 23…; 31, 32, 33…;
3 – If money is not enough, the LCD displays the amount needed for that product. Else, the product is released and the exchange is given;
4 – There is a Return button to return the money of the user;
5 - In the inside of the exchange door, there’s a lamp that is turned on when exchange is given;
6 – All extra coins are saved in the appropriated box/drawer. These drawers can be open by introducing a code chosen by me and only modified through the NQC program;
7 – If RCX’s stay always turned on, it knows the quantity of each product and each coin reacting well to some incompatibly situations;
8 – There’s also fibre optic just to the aesthetic in the base of the machine where products fall;

- Strong wire to make snacks spirals;
- Book spirals to save coins for exchange;
- Aluminium band to cover the ramp where coins have to make contact;
- Breadboard and resistances linked to the RCX inputs to identify coins and keys of keyboard;
- 2 acrylic parts, one to the front and the other to the back like a drawer not to hide mechanisms in the main block;
- Some lamps to light up the products.
