Toa Curatos, the Guardian (Crazy Awesome's Self Moc) . The Guardian, Self-Moc of Crazy Awesome, v.1 . Hey there guys! This is another thing that took up a GIANT chunk of time over the past few days of the crash, so I'm glad to finally have posted it. This is my first version of my very first self-moc--because every Bionicle builder, however big or small, has to have one. And best of all: He has NO Hero Factory on him! Text can be found at the bottom of the corresponding picture. Enjoy! NAME: Curatos, or Crazy Awesome GENDER: Male SPECIES: Mutated Toa TITLES: The Guardian, Dark Guardian, Crazy Awesome Toa, Toa, Mutant, Protector OCCUPATION: Leader of the League of Guardians, and a Guardian of Spherus Magna ELEMENTS: Shadow, also some light-based powers given from armor MASK: Shadowproof stylized Hau, Mask of Shielding WEAPONS: Combat Daggers, Combat Sabres, Dark energy Ripper blade, Dark Energy Machine turret, Dark Energy Longstaff MOC STATUS: Disassembled and undergoing v.2 updates STORY: (If you're too lazy, skip through this part) Curatos was once a Ko-Matoran in an alternate M.U., and in this universe the Makuta had taken over all of the islands, save a few southern ones, and turned the Matoran and Toa into beings of Shadow to do their will. The Makuta were led by the merciless Miserix after the previous second-in-command, Teridax, was killed for trying to conjure up a different Plan to take over the universe. After Teridax and his allies were killed, Miserix assembled the rest of the Makuta and used Mutran's and Tridax's shadow leeches to infect all of the Matoran and Toa around. Curatos, now a shadow matoran like the rest of his friends, worked as a slave under the Makuta, this time to build some kind of power siphon that would drain Karda Nui's energy, killing the Great Spirit while harvesting all of this energy for themselves. However, before it was finished, Curatos and a few others were taken into custody by the Makuta for experimenting. Curatos and the other captives were immersed in all kinds of Makuta viruses and unknown substances, but only Curatos and one other matoran, Detrimax, survived the experiments. Detrimax was supposedly the success of the Makuta, and so he was taken away while Curatos was left as a failure. As a result of the experiments, Curatos' shadow powers started to go wild, and he would often find himself talking to beings of pure shadow emerging out of his heart. Now a radioactive shadow lunatic stuck in captivity, Curatos thought he would surely go mad, until a being named Vezon came into his dimension and pulled him into the normal Matoran Universe, where Spherus Magna was whole again. The new ruling party of Spherus Magna, named Councilus Magna, was consisted of Helryx, Takanuva, and some other warriors from Metru Nui and from Bara Magna. Curatos was taken out of his universe because of a new program initiated by the council--the League of Guardians program--and Curatos was to be the leader of this elite warrior defense team. Despite protesting against more experiments, Curatos was eventually taken by the council and fitted with new armor from Artahka, dubbed the Shadowproof armor, which was designed to repel Shadow energy from both inside the armor and outside of it. So, Curatos' reactive shadow energy was completely locked in the armor save his right hand, where he could channel shadow energy. The armor itself, because of its protection against shadow, also provided some light-based energy to use. Curatos also gained added strength, speed, agility, and endurance due to both sets of experiments on him. Curatos, now a heavily armored shadow warrior, fights against any threats on Spherus Magna as the true Guardian of the whole planet... Lower legs, not so custom. With his inside color scheme black and outside color scheme silver/gold, I couldn't resist using these Reidak feet. Upper legs, pretty custom. One metru armor is gold, while the other is silver, and I once had two gold ones but one went missing... Torso. It's completely custom and utilizes a Hordika torso as a base before all of the other angular jumbled up armor pieces. The tubes that run across his torso also provide a nice touch. His arm. The upper arm (and the shoulder connection) are custom, while the lower arm is not. As I work on my v.2 now, I'm changing both the upper arm and shoulder connection because the armor tends to fall off very easily. You can also see his energy zamor gauntlets, which actually fire (yay playability!) Head, and more upper torso. That Gahlok Kal plate is held in place completely by friction and not from any pin connections, and that heartlight is also held in place with that Nuparu claw. I have no idea what "Heartlight FTW" means, so I'm not going to say it, even though I just did. He also has some pretty interesting headgear on, in order to give some bulk to his head that matches with his whole body. Full body shot. Full body side shot. In real life, he looks much better from this angle than he does from the front. From the back, with a gold Piraka torso there for more gold! Action pose! You may have noticed the left hand is silver and the other is black. If you read the story, you would know that armor covers his whole body save his right hand, where he channels shadow powers. So the left hand is silver armored (and clawed) while the right hand is bare and shadow-y. Firing his energy zamors. They're nothing special, just pure light energy fired from the light-giving armor capabilities. He can't really cross his arms, but... ...he's certainly got a ton of hamstring flexibility! I gave him the leg flexibility because in real life I don't have any :/ It also shows that the Guardian is good at balancing on one foot. Yeah, look at these guns! (Phrase taken from Ben Cossy, one of my idols) Facepalm... (Action taken from Toa Phosphorus, another one of my idols) Here's a (very sadly) blurry pic of the side of the torso. You can't really see anything, your best. And no: I'm not posting instructions for him, because he's already been disassembled and ready for a v.2. If you want to make him, though, then by all means go ahead. I'm all for it! Shot of the headgear, which is composed of two claws and some half-width technic beams that connect to the back of his head. If this self moc gets more than say, 20 likes, I'll post instructions for his head. His headgear is made to be universal, so it fits most regular sized masks, like the Jaller's noble Hau here. (Warning: the headgear will not fit irregularly shaped masks like the Kraakhan or Karda Nui Takanuva's Avohkii) WEAPONS TIME!!! Here we have the Guardian with a dagger. But wait, there's more... ...he has 2! WHAAAAAAA???!?! Here he is in an "I'm ready" pose. The daggers in action. I literally disassembled all of the Bionicles I have save this Rahkshi and Karda Nui Takanuva. So the Rahkshi will have to be my test dummy for now. His daggers also connect on his thigh armor for easy storage and drawing. His two combat sabres, in a battle pose. Standing all epic... FINISH HIM!!! His sabres can also be stored on his back for easy storage and drawing. In the case that he only needs one sabre, Curatos usually equips his shield in his left hand and the sword in his right, for that common cliché sword-and-shield battle pose. You shall not pass! By the way, if any of you are wondering, that golden Visorak body comes from the Battle of Metru Nui set, with the Kahgarak. I then added some little trans red details. Here is a really cool weapon, his dark energy spiked blade. Its base is a Vahki Bordahk staff which is then sandwiched by rods, similar to Toa Phosphorus' Dark Iron sword shown here (and thank you Toa Phos for being such a good builder! You provided me with a lot of inspiration) Another shot of standing epically with a bad@$$ sword in hand. I must have depleted all of my silver teeth on both this sword and the Guardian himself. Because the sword is so gigantic, it's heavy, making one handed poses hard. However, I was able to come up with a connection design that allowed the Guardian to hold the sword with two hands. Here's a shot for ya. WHACK!! Fatality... My favorite weapon out of all of them, the Dark energy machine turret! It's so AWESOME! :D Again, some credit must go to Toa Phosphorus' Big Gun, shown here, but I added a turret base to it to make it more like a two handed bad@$$ gatling gun. And I must say, I think I succeeded on all fronts. Another shot, probably reloading. You're about to get 200 bolts of dark energy implanted in your brain in 6 seconds. Here's a minor breakdown of how the gun is made. Rather simple. That barraki mandible-thing provides as a handle for the Guardian's left hand, you don't need it if you're using it for a one handed gatling gun. Finally, the last of his Dark Energy weapons, the longstaff. All of his dark energy weapons are held in his right hand, because the staff, spiked sword, and machine turret draw shadow power from the Guardian himself. Two handed grip, ready to blast your head off. *Force Choke* Or something along those lines. This shot, and the dark energy spiked sword second shot, provide as the best wallpapers for your computer. When duty calls for the most deadly enemy around, the Guardian can store everything except his staff on his self. Sorta bounty hunter-ish. Size comparison time! Here is the Guardian with my last two surviving Bionicles. He doesn't stand very close to Takanuva's height, but he is taller than a Rahkshi. (and an Inika build) Brofist! Sort of. :P Here's a shot of the Guardian, with a little Preview amateur photo editing at work. Toned up brightness, toned down temperature, toned up contrast, and sharpened the edges. Take some time to study this picture, you'll see lots of minor details and stuff before you go. Gbye! Just as a side note, I'm trying to get him up to at least 20 likes. Because I know future versions will be much better, 20 likes on my first Self moc seems like a good start. I'd like to give a shoutout to Ben Cossy, Overlord Galaxus, and Toa Phosphorus, as those three people's self mocs provided as some inspiration for my self moc the Guardian. You guys are the best! Please comment and rate, and please, don't spam me with self moc requests. Due to the amount of time I have on my hands, I might be able to squeeze one in, but don't count on it. Thanks for looking!
