Flying Dutchman protytype . Ready to conquer the seas of mocpages... . After three years she's back, more powerful than ever, when I demolished my previous version I was filled with regret, I feared I would not be able to build a new version as good as the old one, never mind better. My first attempts failed dramatically This version ended up as a parking lot :S it was big, bulky but most critical: it was ugly Then I took a more professional approach, I drew an interior plan based on the shape from the schematics of the real Flying Dutchman. (the real Flying Dutchman schematics) I went pretty detailed here, I decided not to build the lower deck but only the part above the waterline, it will be a much easier build considering shape and steadyness. When I was figuring out the Dutchmans interior I noticed the exterior does not exactly match the interior, I can't match both in my design, fundamentally impossible. I chose to go by the exterior, this will result in the more realistic ship. the downside will be the captain's quarter being smaller. A big change is that I left one side open, one can view the interior a lot easier that way (recalling the multiple hatches and folding stuff on the previous version. Now, as you could have read in the title this is a prototype, this means there will be a final version. Here's my progress so far : Due brickshelf problems you might not be able to see these pictures, I'm sorry for that, if this is the case you can view one picture on my flickr 9 August 2011 : 6 October 2011 : 24 September 2011 : 17 December 2011 : 2 Januari 2012 : 9 Februari 2012 : 18 Februari 2012 : 8 March 2012 : The plan is to have it finished by beginning April 2012 (sooner if possible) 3 April 2012 : It is finished - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Support my LEGO Ideas project!
