Paragon GT1LMP . Original design: GT1 Le Mans Prototype. V-10, 5+R, Adjustable suspension. Brakes, clutch. Four years work (again...) . Presenting the latest installment in my line of original design supercars. The Paragon GT1LMP. Designed as a GT1 class Le Mans Prototype. This is a single seat racer designed to be tuned to track conditions. It features adjustable push-rod/bell crank suspension (camber, ride height), a five speed plus reverse rear mounted and removable gearbox, four wheel disc brakes, a twin-plate clutch, quick-remove front and rear body cowlings, doors hinged on the A-pillar, active aerodynamics which increase down-force as steering lock is applied. A lot of thought and work has gone in to the overall aerodynamics design with a smooth undertray, and a variety of air-scoops to manage the airflow around the car, into the engine and over the radiators. Approximately 3200 parts including custom parts and several metres of dental floss which is a great material for transmitting precise force over distance without excess slack. This is invaluable for translating small movements of the gear stick into moving the gearbox components at the rear of the car - a good 20 cm distance and through / past the suspension and engine and also for transmitting the much higher forces involved in the clutch and especially the braking systems. This has taken about four years to build off and on and I've had two kids in there so the time available for such pursuits is now limited to say the least. Watch out for my next project which at this stage is going to be a replica of a classic from the golden age of motoring - 1930 - 1960. Suggestions as to what this should be are welcome - I'm currently leaning towards a Jaquar XK120 or perhaps a Ferrari 250 GTO or Testa Rossa. Maybe an old Maserati or Alfa though? Two-seaters only need apply... Sad to pull it apart... Glad to be starting another...
