Mercedes-Benz O 317 Renntransporter "Porsche Salzburg" . So, at last, after two months of building and several bricklink orders we have a Lego version of Porsche Austrias 1970 Mercedes-Benz O 317 Renntransporter. . This is built especially for Ape Fights Classic Race Teams group and boy was it a fun challenge. I chose to build this as i thought it would fit my smooth style well and it's an absolutely stunning vehicle. It is 22 studs wide and 105 studs long and will fit four cars upto 18 studs wide. Let's have a little look around... Everything opens on the transporter, we'll start with the back. Look at all that lovely white beaminess :-) I just couldnt resist cramming every little deatil into this MOC. A few shots with all that opens... The detailed interior. The seats are a little on the large side (need to be 5 wide ideally). Those glove boxes open :-) And what do we have under this beautiful shell? My most technical technichy chassis. It's a blend of old and new technic and is pretty strong (if a little on the bendy side). I started this creation in an unorthodox fassion, by starting with the PORSCHE lettering on the side. I didn't start the chassis until i had completely finished the body. This made it tricky to finally Marry the two together. I decided that they won't attach as such, the body just rests nicely on the lift arm struts so I can easy get to the chassis. This has working steering (although it is not currently attached to anything as yet. I want to attach it to the Merc badge at the front at some point in the near future. It has a straight 6 working engine, which i love! And working differential. I nearly forgot to take photos of the ramp... One last WIP shot. We already have one car ready for transportation...Malte Dorowskis' Stunningly beautiful 917k and I am waiting for Dohoon Kims version. My next project is to build one of my own, as the transporter has no purpose without a car to transport lol Thanks for looking, and please let me know what you think ;-) If you want to see what it should look like go here -
