Woolworth Building, New York City . This model consis of 2,009 pieces. . This is my twelfth skyscraper based off of Spencer Rezkalla's original design, and my sixteenth overall. Completed in 1913, the Wooolworth Building was built nearly a century ago in 1913 over a three year period. The building was declared a New York City landmark in 1983 and is known for its neo-gothic architectural style; a style known for its use in other famous worldwide landmarks such as Westminster Palace in London. This is my fifth New York skyscraper model. It took two days to design, only six hours to build, and an overall month and a half to complete. Model completed Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2011. Brickshelf photos here Construction photos here The Woolworth Building was the world's tallest building for seventeen years and still remains one of the fifty tallest in the US. The building's neo-gothic style earned it the nickname, "The Cathedral of Commerce". The backside of the building featuring a light court trademark to many early New York skyscrapers.
