A Deadly Response 12: Bane of the Sith . . Mon Calamari, about a week after the events in The Legend of Harash Soru 18.
Darth Bane stood staring out at the sea, deep in thought. Ever since coming back his power had felt completely diminished. He knew he was nothing more that a shadow of the man he had once been.
Shaak Ti: "It hurts doesn't it?"
Darth Bane: "You wouldn't understand."
Shaak Ti: "No, you are right. I cannot imagine how feeling the Force slipping through your fingers must feel."
Darth Bane: "Sethron's machine, it did not work. It will happen to Maul eventually. And Leviathan of course."
Shaak Ti: "You know why I am here Bane. I can end it for you."
Bane looked up at the sky and sighed.
Darth Bane: "I may be weak Master Ti, but I will not simply give myself over to death! I am Sith after all!"
Shaak Ti: "Do not delude yourself Bane!"
Darth Bane: "My powers are not dead yet. I can still smell your fear, still sense the power within you, still sense the young Jedi that comes to aid you."
Paradox: "Then you should be able to sense that you cannot contend with the both of us."
Darth Bane: "Yet I will still fight!"
Shaak Ti and Paradox rushed the Sith Lord. Bane spun around and blocked the attacks easily however.
The Jedi swung again at Bane but he deftly jumped over their heads.
Bane reached out and blasted orange lightning towards Shaak Ti.
Paradox: "Master Ti! Back Bane!"
Bane blocked Paradox's attack and managed a low chuckle.
Darth Bane : "I am not totally defenceless."
Suddenly a large container struck Bane squarely in the chest, he grunted as he was knocked onto his back.
Down bellow, Bane's lightsaber dropped into the sea and began to sink slowly to the bottom.
Shaak Ti: "It's over Bane. Stop this madness!"
Darth Bane: "No! I am Bane, creator of the Rule of Two! The most powerful Sith to have lived. I will not surrender!"
With a roar Bane launched the container from his chest, sending it slamming into Paradox.
Bane Jumped to his feet and let loose two blasts of lightning. Paradox screamed as the lightning engulfed him whilst Shaak Ti fought to hold it off.
Shaak Ti: "Paradox!"
But Bane could not hold the blast for any longer and he dropped weakly to his knees. Shaak Ti hurried over to Paradox's side.
Shaak Ti: "Paradox!"
Paradox: "Ah, here Master Ti. Take my blade. Use it better than I did, stop Bane!"
Shaak Ti: "I will Paradox, I am sorry."
Paradox: "The fault was not yours Master. May the Force be with..."
Paradox's voice trailed off and he became still. Shaak Ti gently closed his eyes and took up his blade.
Shaak Ti: 2May the Force be with you Paradox."
Shaak Ti jumped to her feet, activating the two lightsabers she charged Bane. The Sith let off a pathetic blast of lightning but Shaak Ti easily deflected it.
She came at Bane and swung, the Sith only barely side stepping the attack.
However, Shaak Ti quickly spun around and used the Force to hurl Bane into the nearby pylon.
Bane grunted as he tried one last unsuccessful blast of lightning. Slowly, he could feel the life leaving him. He was dying and he did not have long to wait.
Darth Bane: "Shaak Ti?"
Shaak Ti: "Yes?"
Darth Bane: "Promise me. Promise me you will destroy Levid and Zealot. They are not Sith, they pretend at it. Always two their should be, a Master and an Apprentice. No more, no less."
Shaak Ti: "I will keep your promise Bane, but I will add to it to. I will not stop until the Sith Order is wiped from the galaxy. Now, go back to your sleep Bane."
As the last of his life left him Bane watched Shaak Ti walk away. And as he drew his final breath, he couldn't help but believe that she and her allies would succeed in her promise.
Yavin, an hour after Bane's death.
Darth Zealot raised his holocron as it began to chime at his belt.
Darth Zealot: "Who is this?"
Darth Levid: "Zealot? It's Levid."
Darth Zealot: "What do you want?"
Darth Levid: "I think its time we joined forces..."
Darth Zealot was silent for a while before saying.
Darth Zealot: "I'm listening..."
