6890 Cosmic Cruiser in Classic Space G1 Style . This is a mod of 6890 Cosmic Cruiser in Classic Space G1 colours (light grey, blue, trans-yellow). . I've been a Classic Space fan since the first sets came out in Germany in 1979. Although in the 80s the Futuron colours seemed to be cooler the classic colour scheme has earned a place in my heart. Back in the early 80s my little brother had this cool set, the 6890 Cosmic Cruiser. I wanted to have this one, too, but I preferred to spend my money on Technic sets instead ;-)) A few months ago I had the idea of building one in G1 colours and started building it with LDD immediately. I've wanted to build it with real bricks for some time but I only had the chassis plate for the scooter in white or red. I wanted to get a light grey one but I found out that it has never been made in this colour. So I ordered a blue one instead which I got last weekend. Then I saw Nick's great Classic Space scene with the punk and when I came home from the office I went directly to the basement where the old LEGO boxes are stored. I didn't stop until I had it finished and then modified it a bit more to get the G1 style of LL918, LL924 and LL928. This is the result: There must be a trans-yellow 4x4 plate with hinge for the top somewhere (I know I had a set with it), but I couldn't find it in the box with the tranparent parts and nowhere else. So I ordered one via BrickLink. The blue one looks OK for now. So this is my 6890 Cosmic Cruiser in classic Space G1 style. I hope you like it! :-)) Update February 17, 2012: If you like the idea of Futuron spaceships in G1 colours take a look at John Beck's Classic Space Fleet. Take a close look and you'll see a Cosmic Cruiser, too. I just realized that I had written a comment for his Galaxy Commander in October. So the inspiration for this Cosmic Cruiser has probably been that model. Update November 1, 2012: I think it even looks better as a CS Vic Viper :-))
