Danish navy brig Building journal chapter 2 . . From LDD to real build- Building the Danish Navy brig HDMS Lougen One fine evening I finally placed the last orange brick. Bright orange –sorry- The ones who have looked closer at my postings will know that I have been planning to build my ships for real for quite some time. Now I'm doing it! It's the Danish brig HDMS Lougen. To see the details of the model, including the opportunity to download the LDD file, please visit the Brig-of-war HDMS Lougen-class posting. To see the first stages in the build visit Danish navy brig Building journal chapter 1 Some data on the build: Length of the ship is 87 cm With bowsprit it will be approx. 120 cm Height from keel to the tip of the tallest mast will be approx. 100 cm Number of bricks of the original design was 9092 bricks. The actual build will differ slightly from this number as I have made some structural changes and will be adding a stand. There is 1536 cheese slopes all in all, of these the 1302 is bright orange. The lower hull color is bright orange. The outside hull above the waterline is bright yellow and black The inside hull is white below deck and bright red above deck. The decks are brick yellow. Masts will be black and bright yellow. Guns are black and bright red. I am working by the plans for the brigs HDMS Lougen and HDMS Delphinen(The dolphin) found in the Danish national archive. The right thing to do would be to make a link for the plans, but as this doesn't seem to work I have taken the liberty to upload the drawings here. When the hull was done I turned my attention to rest of the panels and accessories. Now I am experimenting on how to build the most stable masts. As you can see this may be the last wip posting in this. I’m looking forward to show the finished ship in a couple of weeks.
