2011 . In 2011 these are the LEGO sets that came out where I was heavily involved in the design process. . As I have given a lot of presentations and written articles for Brick Journal this year the prototype images are in the public domain so I have also included some of them. I have provided links to Brickset where I would prefer you post a reviews (I read all the reviews on my sets both on Brickset and, but the site is no longer accessible for reviews once the item is no longer for sale. On MOC pages please just post a comment or a link to your full review, thank you! Sketch Model = first version, or early version of the models eventually included in a set. Set Designer = person responsible for the finished LEGO set. Note: No LEGO set can exist without a huge team of people: from the rest of the Design Team; to Supply Chain, Production, Prototyping, Marketing, Packaging, Packing, the Online Team, HR, Accounting, Legal, Administration and Parts Design, to name a just a few. All these thousands of people work together at The LEGO Group to get these sets into your hands and every one of them are as vital to the final product as the Designers. So feel free to blame them too if you don’t like the colour of the wheels or wanted more mini-figures!! Cheers, Mark. ATLANTIS: 7984 Deep Sea Raider Original Sketch model by me, then versions by by Luis C. and Mike F. before returning to me for the final set design. 7984 On Brickset 7985 City of Atlantis This is my first sketch model for the temple, note the first ever 3D printed version of the textured 2x2 round element on the column in the left of the picture, it was the first element I suggested we make for the theme. The final model came a long way from the sketch! 7985 on Brickset ALIEN CONQUEST: 7052 UFO Abduction This is my first sketch model. Underneath you can see the abduction feature – pretty much as it is in the final model. However I did not make the final model that was Designer Martin K. though heavily influenced by a wonderful styled version by Adam G. (Mister Zumbi). 7065 on Brickset 7065 Alien Mothership Here is the first sketch model I made – I just wanted to try and make the biggest saucer I could! The final model is by Senior Designer Raphael P. again after a wonderfully styled version by Adam G. (Mister Zumbi). 7065 on Brickset 7066 Earth Defense HQ This early sketch shows the wide variety of sketch models that came together to make this. The ship is by Michael F. the trailer is mine, the front is built by me but based on a similar version in orange by Luis C. The final model is by me – featuring a Vic Viper on the back, the sketch for this is actually one of my MOCs: VV Grifter I really like the final styling on the boxes. 7066 on Brickset 7067 Jet Copter Encounter This model was brought into the line quite late on as it was decided to make another good-guy set. The first sketch model was pulled from one of the first things I did for Alien Conquest. The final model came out looking almost exactly the same. The bad guy splitting saucer actually had a dual purpose – not only fun to play with but if you get three of four copies of the set (I know pretty unrealistic) then you can click them all together serially and make a cigar shaped alien craft. This is because almost all of the 1950 UFO sightings were of saucer or cigar shaped objects. I probably thought about it too much… Still love atmosphere the box art conveys. 7067 on Brickset Hope you liked 2011 - 2012 & 13 will be better!
