Classic 2 Studless: 8845 Dune Buggy (LDD) . The classic 8845 Dune Buggy converted into a studless Technic model. . The 8845 Dune Buggy is still one of my favourite Technic models. As I'm getting more and more into the new studless Technic thing I wondered how this model would look in studless design. I started to build the model using the original 8845 instructions and adapting the design to the new Technic system. The biggest change is that the studless model is one "stud" wider to get an odd width like most of the new Technic models. The rest of the design is supposed to be as close as possible to the original without using bricks or plates. This is the result: It was great fun to build this model with studless Technic parts. I'm still not sure if I'll go for the parts to build it "for real". Maybe, one day... So this is my studless LEGO Technic 8845 Dune Buggy. I think it would still make a great set and I hope you like it, too :-)) Update April 11th, 2012: I've built a classic version of the 8845 with LDD, too. I had to make some minor changes as there are still missing some classic Technic elements in LDD which already exist in LDraw. But I got quite close to the original look with the existing LDD parts. When I compared the classic model to the new one, I realized that the cargo area of the new model was about 2 "studs" to short. So I modified that and adapted the rollcage, too. Then I moved each wheel half "stud" closer to the chassis. I also made some changes on the front, so now the new model is getting even closer to the classic one: Family meeting: Studless Dune Buggy, the classic 8845 model and the 4-wide.
