E.C.R.U. - Bio Cup 2012 - R3 - vs Dylan Mievis . . Behold, the Extreme Condition Rescue Unit! This mech was created for the purpose to execute rescue missions in extreme conditions. Being semi-intelligent, it knew its tasks and was sent to wander around in desolate areas in search for lost, if any information regarded to such. Equipped with search- and beaconlights and IR-vision, it could find the lost or the lost could find it. Possessing also weaponry and a power claw, it could do heavy lifting aswell as fight back predators.
Whenever a lost being was found, the E.C.R.U. would open its chest area and guide the person to be carried by it. Whenever entered by a person, it creates a neural link with the passenger to use their memories in order to find a way to inhabited areas to get the passenger to safety and get healed.
Later it was proven that the neural link allowed the E.C.R.U. to enchance its own abilities, like reflexes, power of observation and endurance, according to the passenger's mind.
This trait in the mech lead for it to be mass producted for toas - continuing the exo-toa legacy - with the exception that the passenger could control the mech's movements, whenever concious. Otherwise the mechs will continue their original meaning, getting the toa to safety.Poor toa unconscious in the mech :(
The mech was created to look like a living predator to scare off any possible threats.
The toa himself. A very simplish and compact design in order to fit the mech properly. My main concentration was in the mech.
The figure was first supposed to collapse to fill the mech, but I found it to be a bit unrealistic, as it had some weird bending of joints. The legs remain from my original plans.
The mech without a passenger.Power claw!
I really like how the chest area looks like without a passenger =]
I honestly love the spine I made. Thank you Bricklink!
The left arm shoots signal flares, which can also be used for protection if the situation requires such. Extra ammo is placed on the right arm.
The turning searchlight/rifle.
The thankful toa with the mech saying bye.Well, this was a fun creation. It put plenty of new ideas to use, as I recently got myself a new BL order. As you can see, I got plenty of those Kiina-fins in black. And I actually used all of them in this moc. I was first actually searching for skrall armor, but they're surprisingly rare and the only large bunch was too far, thus too expensive to send here. I'm glad I still got 2 of them with the final salesman I resolved to.I recently got myself some bolt cases to sort and organize my parts. With the cases, I could build much faster than I'm used to as I usually had to search each part from a huge pile of pieces. This moc was finished in 5 hours, which is relatively quick considering its size. So, as for the Bio Cup this is my round 3 entry against Dylan Mievis. His entry can be found here. Thanks for watching and I'd appreciate commentary. =)
