Penumbra . The Great Beings' perfected guardian, in the footsteps of Umbra. . Umbra. All who know the legend of the Ignika know his name. Powers of light granted by his creators, the Great Beings. Assigned by the Order of Mata Nui to protect the Mask of Life at all costs, from all adversaries, whether their intentions by noble or iniquitous. But where Umbra fell to the wit and might of the valiant Toa Inika, the Order knew they would need a soldier who would not. Despite the fact that the Great Beings initially created the original Umbra, the Order was able to reverse-engineer the technology. With this they extrapolated and improved, building the ultimate lightspeed guardian: Penumbra. As Umbra before him was named for shadow, so too was the new generation; as this was a more refined Umbra, and as a lesser shadow is its own edge, thus he too was christened Penumbra. Aw yeah. So that's that! Just a very in-depth side project, which eventually morphed into this guy. I really wanted to use those grey Hau as shoulders but I couldn't get a good connection with the proportions I was looking for, so I stuck 'em on the shins. Then I decided to make him a Bioracer, but I really just wasn't feelin' it story-wise. So I thought, hey, what inspired the Bioracer craze? Umbra, of course. So there you have it. Feel free to use the crossbow and scythe designs with credit. More MOCs to come soon!
