Finding Nemo . . 2012 MOCOlympics Round 1: Category: "Ring of Fire" Hey all, Barely managed to scrape this up. I managed to get this done in about 3 days, so it is a relief to finally get it posted. For those of you who don't know, this is an entry for the MOCOlympics, a tournament style contest that features builders in head to head competitions against each other. This is built for the qualifying round in the category "Ring of Fire". My take on the category is a scene from the movie "Finding Nemo". You can refer to the video to see the connection of this creation to the category. I really enjoyed working outside of my typical landscapes. Even when forced into a contest, I always try to build into my strengths of landscapes. I am approaching these games with a bit different mindset; I am more focused on getting better than I am on winning or doing well. We'll see how long that mindset lasts... I was really struggling with thoughts for the category, until I remembered one of the best animated movies to ever be made, Finding Nemo. I absolutely adore this movie, and was delighted to find a connection to a category. Each individual fish was difficult to make (I am really inexperienced at drawing out creatures' personalities) but the final results blend together in a whimsical, artistic fashion that is much better than I had originally planned or hoped for. Well, I hope you fellas like it! This fish is my favorite of them all. I think I managed to capture his face moderately well, but the recognizable mouth is what really tickles me about him. Finally, here is a picture of the built in light accessory. I built it so that it could be turned on and off with a mere touch of a button on the outside. The engineering and mechanics is actually quite complex. Well fellas, there she is. Thanks a ton for all your support! Please be sure to leave a comment to let me know what you thought. Constructive criticism is welcome as always, but be mindful that this was a 3 day creation. :P And as always, SOLI DEO GLORIA! -Blake PS In anticipation of my upcoming battles, I will be getting my warpaint on. :D
